We've had lots of volunteers and the National Trust now has enough people to help them with the photo shoot. They're currently working through all the responses received. If you haven’t yet heard back from them, you’ll hear back via email in the next couple of days.

John Edwards, Chair of the Wentworth Castle and Stainborough Park Gardens Trust, said: “I am thrilled that the belief and hard work of the staff, the Garden’s many volunteers and my fellow trustees have come to this marvellous r...esult. the gardens are amazing, walkng around the grounds is good for the soul.

local people are priced out ! middle class seem to be the only ones that the gardens are marketed at.

The estate was built on the blood and sweet of the working class man, lets take it back for the people of Barnsley. Lets fil this town with hope again

We visited wentworth castle gardens yesterday looking for a potential wedding venue. Absolutely beautiful place and the long barn is stunning. Most of all I would like to thank the volunteer Fred who showed us round, gave us some information and history and most of all made us feel welcome!

User

Visited wentworth castle gardens today . Cant believe its closing its a lovely place. It was great to see so many people enjoying it today . All that work to renovate the conservatory they must be devastated.

User

Only found this gem yesterday and fell in love absolutely heartbroken that it was there last day before closing to the public please please please find a way to reopen these amazing grounds it's criminal my heart goes out to all involved

User

Loved the Easter trail challenge today, it's one of my all time favourites for the level of engagement. Really well thought out and imaginative. The egg rolling was brilliant too!

User

It was beautiful... I like it... I and my friends wanted to see the gardens with flowers, but we find out that all the gardens are open in week end. After Easter will be close... So sad...

User

Had the best day out today, loved the Easter trail and the egg rolling. Very sad that you are closing and hope we get to visit again soon. Thanks for making Easter so special for our girls.

User

Had a lovely few hours here between Christmas and new year. Got to see the deer being fed, had a walk round the snowman trail and a nice cake and coffee in the cafe, all the staff are really friendly and welcoming and my 4 yr old loves the adventure playground, great day out.

User

Had a fabulous wedding day all down to this venue and April and the team! Such a disappointment that the venue is now closed to the public xxx

User

Great day out as always. Seeing how busy it was, I don't understand the logic in closing down - it must be a cash cow at this time of year. Very sad

User

Fantastic early visit, when we had the whole place to ourselves for the first hour of opening! A real treat

User

Enjoyed a lovely evening of carols by the conservatory, followed by a firework display! Can thoroughly recommend this event and it was free too!

User

Brilliant day out with the kids and myself. Telling them the history that lies behind wentworth castle/northern college Even though they didn't fully understand they loved the walk around the gardens hiding and climbing trees.

User

Absolutely brilliant Easter trail today!!! The best ever - you're going out on a bang!!! Lovely to see so many of the old trail friends out. Yet sssooo ssssoooo sad that you're closing, over the years my family has spent many a happy hour/day in the grounds and playground. The place and the wonderful staff will be really missed!! Thanks for all the fun times

User

Really enjoyed my visit, fantastic for walking with our dog , just a very big shame we weren't allowed to go in the gardens to see the conservatory, castle remains and such, no dogs unfair, children are allowed no problem.

Had a lovely day today doing the Easter trail. It was a little on the expensive side but we did get to go into the play area aswell and the car park gates were open so no £3 car parking fee, so can't complain really. All staff very friendly and helpful. Café prices fairly reasonable.

User

The garden are was lovely. Very relaxing and good price for parking and everything included. However the baby changing facilities are appalling. Filthy dirty when we went on Sunday morning. Also no where to hang changing bag so gad to put on filthy floor. The cafe also needs a lot of improvement. Table was wobbly. Service nt friendly. Floor again filthy. And the quality of food on offer mediocre. The coffee 'barrista' also requires training. We will return to see the gardens, but won't be using facilities.

User

Why was I asked for £9.75 so that my !! year-old daughter could play in the childrens playarea? I only wanted a coffee in the cafe, but was told that for her to use the play area,we would both have to have full garden tickets, despite neither of us wishing to visit the gardens. We left disappointedI,I felt the implication was that visitors could not be trusted to be honest, and that there was covert discrimination against children. We have both visited the gardens before, and agree that they are beautiful, but this episode has left a very bad impression,of an unwelcoming organisation.

User

Very disappointed with everything. We arrived at 1.30. Kids playground closed at 3.30. They didn't tell us that when we paid £30 to enter. None of the talking information worked.no flowers, not much to see really Then we were told if we didn't move the car at 4.30 we would get locked in. How anyone can give this 5 stars is beyond me !
