It was really nice to get out today with friends (in the almost spring / summer heat wave) in late Feb! Time to test fly the new Niviuk Artik 5 and put it though it's paces. Given I am used to flying the amazing Niviuk Peak 4 (D) I thought going back on a (C) would be a bit tame (even if it's a test fly). I'm pleased to say I was totally wrong:-). On the ground it is super easy to ground handle and I loved playing around on the hill with it and I had so much fun, it made me... smile from ear to ear. Take - off is easy and is well damped in pitch, but easy to turn and bank and has very good energy retention. It is nice and easy to fly and with no unwanted flapping or too much feedback. Finding thermals was easy, as it drifts towards the lift and thermal and it feels so intuitive with light, but positive brakes. The sink rate is top drawer and the speed bar is light and easy to use (for this category of wing). The increase the speed and glide is progressive and it is very nice on bar and feels solid throughout. I was so happy flying it, I forgot to do what I normally do (with height) and conduct some full speed bar, A - Symmetric and Symmetric collapses and some pitch / stall manoeuvres (another time:-). Well done to Niviuk on producing another super sweet grand tourer (and once spring comes) and a glider that climbs this good it will be an xc - mile eater. I genuinely could not fault it (10 out of 10) and for someone who wants to move up from a high - B to a C wing or move down from a D, The Niviuk Artik 5 should be on the top of the list to test fly. My only question is do I stay on the Artik 5 or go back to the best paraglider wing I have ever flown so far (Niviuk Peak 4)??? Believe me, not an easy choice!!!

Next batch of the all new Niviuk Artik 5 arrives and gets handed over (once checked) to it's new owner. Fingers crossed for Tuesdays weather being ok for a test fly:-).

Peak Airsports takes the first deliveries (and orders) of the new Niviuk Artik 5 (C) glider. Mark gets to test fly (before delivery and fly to Tim F) the newest glider from the great Niviuk range and he was not disappointed (although being light on the glider) as it handled really nicely with a great rate of turn and sink rate and performance that is top of the stack. Hopefully Mark will have a chance to fly the Artik 5 - 26 soon (expect...ed at the end of this week:-). Tim had a great days flying on his new glider and his smile said it all. I asked him what he thought and he said it's ******* awesome to fly! I must admit I couldn't get close to his height all day (even though I was on my Peak 4 (D)!!! Another happy customer:-). Well done also to Dough and John on getting some nice flying in and it was great to see so many friends out.

Fab evening on Mam Tor with friends (all post CP:-). Well done to John F on a nice landing and Oleg flying Mam for the first time. A time for reflection for me as in the landing field was full (well 12 peeps / pilots:-) all my own past students over the last 15 years or more. I was proud of everyone there and its been a great journey and long may it continue.

An absolute punt that it might be ok (no big, fat clouds) and it was! And really nice and almost no one out apart from us. So nice to get high and feel the cold, fresh air. still buzzin:-). Well done to Sree on getting a really nice flight and being the last one on Rushup as the day ended.

Out with friends and some Tandems done. a lovely day out and summer feels like it's here.

Great day out and Sreenath Namelil gets three great flights in with friends and bags his CP qualification! I am proud to say well done mate, learning to fly is not easy and does have its up's and downs, but tight lines and high flights mate! Nice day out with Lizy and post CP pilot Dave T. I was teaching him some thermaling (and how to avoid some pilots who think they own the sky and want you out of 'their way'). He / we had a great day in the end.

Ground handling to start, then off to Treak Cliff. Forecast was wrong and turned out too windy until the last hour of the day for some. Well done to Duncan, Oleg and John on getting a soaring flight in (before it got dark:-).
