About Picaflor
We empower women from remote areas of Colombia by providing them with job opportunities and access to training and skill development, and by helping them to understand and actively participate in biodiversity conservation.
Picaflor Description
The root of poverty in rural areas around nature reserves is the lack of work opportunities for women. Many families are unable to support their children’s education causing a continuation of the poverty circle. The project provides training to women in various skills such as jewellery making, recycled hand-made paper, leather goods, candle making and soaps. Alongside this, we teach them basic business and book keeping skills, encourage them to feel valued and we take medical campaigns to their villages. Most of them have only been able to study up to second or third year of primary school but some of them are now enrolled in night school. The project has also provided medical campaigns with the provision of vitamin supplements where required and Christmas celebrations with gifts for their members and children.

After an early start, a scenic journey... we’re ready for a great day at #wowldn. Celebrating the achievements of women and girls everywhere!!
I have been sooo quiet for a while. But I’m here! .... really. This coming week we’re preparing to celebrate the achievements of girls and women around the globe by exhibiting the WOW festival at the Southbank Centre in London. Here’s a girl I admire for her love to God, others, animals and the planet!! Wearing her Picaflor ring of course! 😉
I will be exhibiting at Sheffield Viva Vegan Festival today at the Megacentre 10:30am to 5:00pm. If you’re local, come and find ethical gifts, information and alternatives to reduce meat and dairy and of course to say hi 👋 to meee 😀.
Enjoyed a lovely oat latte with my love. ☕️😘
Puppy love 🐶❤️. Rocking that Tagua Ring.
Empowering women has so many angles - empowering generations is one of them....These are my two daughters, Alathea and Naomi. They are discovering a world, where they can be game changers. This picture was taken in Colombia, on a remote road, traveled by few. We were sat outside Doña Maria's house. An amazing woman with an entrepreneurial spirit; her and her husband grow and process coffee, they have a small shop, where they sell essentials and snacks to the community and passers by. She is also a skilled artisan and makes crochet bags like the one in the picture. Alathea and Naomi's travels have inspired them to see that the world is much bigger than their immediate surroundings. They know that there's so much more behind the stuff you buy ... there are lives at stake.
These trio of Fuertes Bracelets are so attracted to nature🌳. Made of Azai seeds and a Tagua buckle. You can find them in our website of course 😉
There's something very special about green..

I will be having a stall on Sunday. If you fancy coming to see how awesome vegan food is, and support small businesses that offer all sorts of ethical products.. 😀
The Lorax movie is a great example of how our shortsighted greed can lead to so much destruction to our planet. I know you care an awful lot! 🙂
Here is our own video of a Tarantula versus a wasp (I think is a wasp, but if anybody knows what exactly it is, please let me know)
