OUR BREAD RECIPE 🍞🍞 for me bread is the most important part of the meal. It is the first thing our guests receive so it becomes the benchmark for the meal.... I ❤️ our bread so much so that I rank it in the top 3 best breads I have ever eaten the other two being Noma & JÖRO their sourdough is unreal 👌 so here it is to share with the world. The recipe we have tweeked and developed over the last 5 years. This is Rafters Sheffield ‘s bread recipe.... 420g mixed wholegrain flour ...300g strong bread flour 50g dark brown sugar 50g black treacle 30g fresh yeast 22g table salt 110g active bread starter (this is a whole other story but not necessary) 150ml cocoa porter we use Thornbridge Brewery “Cocoa Wonderland” 250ml tepid water
The method is easy... if you have a stand mixer!!! If not you just need some strong 💪 to knead it by hand. 1. Put all of the ingredients together in a bowl and knead on stand mixer for 10minutes. The dough should come away from the sides of the bowl but still be quite wet. 2. Cover bowl with cling film and allow to proove somewhere warm for 1 hour. The dough will double in size. 3. Remove dough from bowl and place on clean floured surface. Split into three even weights. Roll into a loaf, place on baking sheet lined with silicon paper and then glaze with a mixture of 50/50 egg yolk and black treacle 4. Pre heat oven to 210•C and place a tray of hot water on the bottom 5. Allow the loaves to proove until doubled in size again. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes then allow to cool on a cooling wire 💥💥🍞

What a beautiful restaurant!! We were welcomed in to a beautifully lit room and sat at a table by the window taking in the last couple of hours of sun. We sat down for a classic dinner menu and loved every dish that was put in front of us. I couldn’t give rafters more praise, the front of house staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the wine list and menu. We were made to feel comfortable and at ease all through the whole night.

Myself and hubby arrived at Rafters this eve, we were driving round looking for the Restaurant as it was our first visit - plus looking for parking and we were greeted as we passed the dront door with the restaurant owner waiting and looking for us in the torrential rain and thunder with a huge umbrella to help escort us to

Was the 1st 10 out of 10 and instant “we live this place alreadt” from This things only got better!!!



The starter was AMAZING!

The main was AMAZING!

The dessert was AMAZING!

The cheese board was AMAZING!

The wine was AMAZING!



all washed down with fantastic, warm and friendly service and a lovely chilled out and relaxed yet modern atmosphere.

This was our 1st visit and will definitely return.

Our first visit to Rafters for our 20th wedding anniversary. Some amazing creations on the classic menu. Lovely atmosphere with all staff making us feel part of their experience in fine dining. Very reasonably priced for the effort that obviously goes into this eating experience.

One of the best gastronomic experiences we have had! The food and wine masterclass was great, Tom and Alister are very personable and made our day, we will definitely return, money well spent!.
