Stars Theatre Arts School Description
Stars Theatre Arts School is a family run school, based in South West Sheffield established in September 2000.
Pupils are taught the three main aspects of stagecraft - Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre.
Classes are fun and pupils are encouraged to be creative, regarding their lessons as a hobby, whilst learning technique and developing self-discipline. The emphasis is on the whole child and focuses on promoting self esteem and confidence through improvisation and free expressive movement. Pupils engage in both individual and group work, helping them to co-operate with others and build long lasting friendships.
Classes are held on Saturdays and work is for both exams and shows.
Stars classes are held at two different venues:

(Starlets, Drazza-Ma-Danze)
Little Stars - This 45 minute class caters for our youngest performers aged 3 - 5 years and follows the AAD syllabi for Ballet, Tap and Mime. This involves Free Expressive Movement and Musical Theatre and creativity is encouraged. Children are not entered for exams at this stage.
Starlets - This one hour class follows the AAD syllabi for Ballet, Tap and Modern and LAMDA syllabi for Musical Theatre and Drama. Children progress to the stage where they are able to take group exams, but the main focus is still on having fun! Pupils move into this class when they are aged 5 or 6 years.
Drazza-ma-Danze - This is an exciting, jam-packed hour and a half and covers all the theatre arts. Pupils can take group and individual exams in Ballet, Tap and Modern with AAD and Drama and Musical Theatre exams with LAMDA. This is for children who are at Junior School.
Drama-a-go-go - This class focuses on Drama and Musical Theatre with 45 minutes on each. Pupils can take individual and group exams with LAMDA. This is for senior age.
Dancing Divas - A 45 minute class of Ballet, Tap and Modern. The class follows the AAD syllabi and pupils can take exams. This is for senior age.

A MASSIVE WELL DONE to all our students who have performed in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe this weekend. We are all so proud of you as we're sure your family and friends are too. Most importantly, you all looked like you were thoroughly enjoying it. Congratulations on a great job well done!
To mark the end of 17 years of Stars, we are having a picnic for past and present pupils and their families. Please bring along food and drink to share as well as blankets and outdoor games. We are aiming to set up on the grass between the car park nearest the city centre and the outdoor gym / skatepark area. If you are able to come, please let us know so we will have an idea of numbers and we can keep you updated of the plans.
We don't have contact details for all past pupils so if you know of anyone who would be interested in coming do please let them know.

Wow, well done to all of our performers today, they have done so well.
Photographs - If you went to see the show today you probably will have seen Craig from Flashbash Photography who took pictures at the dress rehearsal. There are individual photographs and a booklet option of all the photographs to purchase directly from Flashbash. There really are some lovely photos.
... DVD - There will also be a DVD of the production which is available for £10 from Tim Nightingale. Please email him at tim@nightingale-audio.co.uk if you would like to order a copy. I know of past students who still watch these from years gone by to reminisce.
Farewell Picnic - To mark the end of Stars, we will be having a picnic for past and present pupils and their families in Millhouses Park on Sunday 13 August at 12pm. Please bring along food and drink to share as well as blankets and outdoor games. HELP!!! Black bistro tables needed
We've just found out today that we can't have x2 black bistro style tables that we need for one of the show numbers. We've located some at Tesco for £15 each which are ideal but these aren't available on click and collect until Monday and we were hoping to have them for the tech rehearsal on Sunday. We can pick some up tomorrow but don't have time to scour loads of shops so.... has anybody noticed any for sale locally at a reasonable price?? Ideally, just the tables rather than chairs as well. I'm thinking one of the supermarkets, B&M, Dunelm, Homebase??? TIA

We've got a few minor bits (Velcro which has fallen off, costumes which could do with some press studs etc) which need sorting on various costumes. If you'd be willing to come along to the next rehearsal on Sat 22 July 9.45-2pm and do the bits and bobs, we'd be most grateful. TIA
ANNOUNCEMENT - END OF AN ERA
As many of you will know, Stars was set up in September 2000. During the years, we've had the pleasure to welcome hundreds of lovely children and their parents to our Saturday classes. Some children have come for just a few months and others have stayed with us for 10+ years. There have been dance, drama and musical theatre exams (taking some students through from their introductory exams to completing their grade 8 gold medal) plus lots of show...s - including over the last few years Little Red Riding Hood, The Magic Toyshop and Seaside Adventures.
However, we've now decided that it is time to hang up our dancing shoes. Therefore, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" will be Stars’ final performance and there will be no further classes after rehearsals finish. Thank you to past and present pupils and parents for their support over the years.

*STARLETS* if anyone is able to come to class 10 minutes early today to try on costumes that would be fab! Also *DRAZZA-MA-DANCE* anyone who can stay until 12.30 that would also be great. I need to take measurements for costumes. 🌟
IMPORTANT RE SHOW There are still a few permission forms and costume fees outstanding. We are applying for the performance licence this week and also ordering costumes so if you want your child to be in the show, please sort this out ASAP!!
