The Tropical Butterfly House is delighted to announce the birth of a Black tailed marmoset Mico melanurus, this species is found in the South american rainforest and is often found in small family groups. You can meet our new arrival in the marmoset enclosure next to our Ring tailed lemurs, their fellow companions in this exhibit, the Pygmy marmosets are often seen baby sitting the little one. Once we know whether a boy or girl we will announce a naming competition and the lucky winner will receive a family entrance ticket

The Tropical Butterfly House takes great pride in providing habitats for native species, this year we are delighted to have Tawny owls nesting again in the park. Here is an owlet which had just been rung by Chris our local BTO ringer. Keep you eyes peeled when you visit for Grass snakes, these are often seen around our nature ponds.

Would just like to say a massive thank you to Abbie and the other 1st aiders after my fall at the weekend. You were all amazing not only with caring for me, from the quick response to the calming and reassuring manor, which helped tremendously, but also with our children, ensuring they were distracted and calm in what was a very scary and emotional situation for them. We are all looking forward to returning soon. Thank you. Xx

User

What a wonderful place the animals all looked happy and well cared for. The fairy garden was exquisite and the Butterfly house with its beautiful Bats made my visit perfect. We loved the tractor ride too. Gentle fun for gentle people filled with wonder

User

Went with my daughters and 2 year old grandson. Its a fabulous place but i agree with other comments, if you're going to charge for 2 year olds (£11.70, £1 less than an adult price) it needs to be half that for under 5 as their attention and interest span is so short. He loved the dinosaur walk but had no real interest in the animals.

User

We just visited today and loved the place, it was busy being a Sunday, but to be expected. We had a birds of prey experience at the end of our visit that lasted an hour and was extremely hands on. Sophie and Lucy were amazing hosts, they got us holding the birds, we fed them, flew them and even got to stroke a couple of them too, we all absolutely loved the experience and would highly recommend it. We will be back

User

We have had an incredible day today! Not only were all the staff so friendly and helpful but our day was made complete by our Bird of Prey experience with Clara. Clara was so friendly and really new her birds. We were so privileged to be able to hold and feed some of the birds of prey and fly Cookie the Kukaburra, Megatrone the little owl and Flint the Harris Hawk! Thank you all so much for making this Birthday treat amazing and special thanks to Clara for our fantastic experience.

Visited the Butterfly House yesterday and we had a fantastic day!

All the staff are so friendly, Especially Ellie W, she was on the pay desk.

My daughter is almost 2 and thoroughly enjoyed coming, seeing all the animals and playing on the parks.

There is plenty to do and see, this is definitely a day out we spent around 4 hours here and we weren't bored.

The little picnic areas are fab and the food onsite looked amazing too.

The fairy trail was my favourite, all the intricate detailing that the staff go to is amazing, made us want to go home and build our own fairy garden!

Highly recommended

My boyfriend arranged this visit as a surprise for my birthday and I couldn't have loved it more. The staff were wonderful and the facilities are excellent. The animals are obviously very well loved and cared for. The butterfly house is mesmerising, with so much to look at - especially the Lorikeets, who you can feed. If you purchase some of the special nectar at the entrance, they sit quite contentedly on your arm and eat/drink for ages. It had been arranged for me to have one of the 'animal encounters'. For this, we got to spend an hour with a lovely, friendly and very knowledgeable member of staff. We got to hold some of the hawks and spend time holding, feeding and flying some of the owls as well as Cookie/Kookie (?) the Kookaburra. I have wanted to do falconry for over 30 years and it lived up to all of my expectations and was a day I will never forget! Thank you so much for one of the best days ever :)

User

Lovely place, lots to do and see. Me and my 8 Year old had a great time. Lady doing talks was very nice, enthusiastic and informative. Lots of talks and demos and well maintained animal enclosures. Didn’t realise about the sand and water play or would’ve brought a towel. Spent 4 hours but could’ve spent longer.

User

Iv been here 3 times before and every year it gets better and better. The amount of animals and things to do in such a small space is amazing. And every single animal looked comfortable and well looked after! The animal antics and free flying bird show was incredible! Seeing those green wings fly is a sight to behold! And the butterfly house itself... well I could spend all day in there. Amazing place I would recommend it for absolutely any age! Keep it up guys, you’re doing a great job! P.S I saw the baby Otter and he’s a cuteness overload.

User

Had an amazing time. Staff very friendly when approachable if you needed any information. Plenty to do on a warm day with cafes which are good standard food and excellent prices. The talks and shows were all amazing too. Can tell all the animals are well cared for and happy here, I’ll definitely be back.

User

Had an amazing day thank you so much visited with my mum and my three sons (7,10 and 12) and we all loved everything about it. So much to see and do. Our favourite had to be the bird show, went back to watch it for a second time. Can't wait to visit again

User

Fantastic visit today. Kids loved it and lots to fill a full day. One of your volunteers Adam deserves praise for the fantastic job he does. He spent a lot of time with my kids telling them about dinosaurs, lemurs and anything else we passed on our walk with him. Made our day even better and is definitely a hidden gem of the butterfly house

User

Been taking our grand-daughter here regularly for about 8 years and she loves it, as do we.

Each time we go there is something new to see or attractions/facilities improved. It's clear to see where your entrance fee goes because the animals are well cared-for, the site always looks lovely and there are very dedicated staff.

Having taken her as a toddler we have always been impressed with the hygeine standards with lots of places to wash hands - at the right height for small children.

User

Absolutely fantastic! Came today at opening so we had to ourselves for a while. Much improved since last year with lots of new things to explore, the enchanted forest was brilliant and a firm memory maker! As was the dinosaurs. The animals were kept clean and seemed happy.

We dined in the restaurant, reasonably priced and good food for such a busy place but adult portions could be slightly bigger, my meal was not much bigger than my child's meal.

Talks and shows kept my child engaged and entertained.

The parks were fantastic!

Will be getting the yearly pass.

Thankyou for a great day!!

User

Absolutely brilliant place. We brought our 4 year-old son here and he just loved it (it was a quiet day, so we virtually had the place to ourselves...) We'd been meaning to go for a while and so glad we did. Loads of animals, lovely setting and habitats for the animals, a dinosaur trail, play park (and outdoor/wet play park for hotter days), picnic areas, craft/activity areas, lovely cafes and friendly, knowledgeable staff. We stroked a snake, petted an alligator, had a close encounter with a peacock, hand-fed lorikeets, got up close with a colony of ants, fell in love with some porcupines and their meerkat buddies and had giant blue butterflies land on us in the butterfly house... we will definitely be back.. Had a fab afternoon tea at Lottie's Cafe (they're massive, one would probably be enough to share for two people!) :)

User

Absolutely amazing day today and myself and my friend will be back in September for a VIP experience

A massive thank you to Sarah who did the lemur and reptile walkthroughs today and who spent extra time speaking to us and helping me overcome my fear of trantulas and for being so lovely and friendly!

Another thank you to the fab ladies who did the bird fly through who also spent time speaking to us about the parrots and their individual personalities, I'm unsure of their names but I did get a glamorous photo of the lovely lady :)

Everyone has been so friendly and it's been an absolute brilliant day out!!!

We will see you soon!!!!!

User

We've been a few times now and love seeing the animals, there's lots to see and do and loads of different areas. agree with all the other reviews that the price is alot for little ones. my little girl is 2 (only just) and it cost us £37 for 2 adults 1 child. given the play areas are mainly for over 4's it would be great to have a slightly lower price for the little ones!

User

Great place, only negative is I think the price for under 4’s is a bit much saying that the main outdoor play park is for 4 and over. Granted there is an under 4 area but really it is only a sand pit. The rest of the Park was great though.

User

Expensive for what it is, but we enjoyed a good few hours there with the youngest granddaughter, she was scared of the dinosaurs but didn’t stop her enjoying all the birds n meerkats. Disappointed with the food, chips where cold and the prices yet again are high, will take a picnic if we go again.
