Thank you for your feedback. We are second in Chesterfield by only 0.1%. We feel so proud of the service we offer and are delighted you are happy with us too.

The NHS in Derbyshire have launched a big self care initiative. Have a look at the resources to see if you could self manage your problem or whether you do need to see a GP or nurse

Did you know you can book appointments online and get your blood results too?? We have a few patients signed up to this service and want to spread the word. Why wait on the telephone when you can do so much online?? Follow the link below to see how to set this up.

If you or a relative are in a situation where a health professional has to come to your home (eg a GP visit for a housebound person, an urgent ambulance for someone who is seriously unwell, a palliative care visit from district or Macmillan nurses, a midwife for a home birth, a health visitor for a developmental assessment) please can you ensure that dogs are shut away in another room and that you/they do not smoke during the visit.
Your home becomes our workplace during a h...ome visit. If you are ill, your pet might well become distressed and express their emotions in an unexpected manner. We need to be able to do our jobs safely, competently and with as little risk to everyone as is possible.
Sadly more than one member of our staff has been attacked by a dog during their working lives as a health professional. We recognise that the majority of our patients are responsible pet owners and we hope you will realise that we can’t do our jobs effectively if we are worried about getting bitten.

The holiday season is in full swing. If you need travel vaccinations please book in at least eight weeks before you travel. If you require a doctors letter to take specific medications abroad please give us six weeks notice and please be aware this is not an NHS service and we charge for these letters.
Don’t forget your travel insurance and your sunscreen. Have a wonderful time and stay well.

IMPORTANT NOTICE. Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th open Surgery are running as normal however with a regular doctor and a locum. To ensure it’s smooth running and patient experience we will have to cap the number of patients seen to 36 in Tuesday and 30 on the Wednesday. If u feel your MEDICAL problem cannot wait please let the staff know however we would appreciate your understanding for these 2 days. Many thanks.

Please be aware that whilst we offer an open Surgery for registered patients to see a GP every morning before 1030am we are not a walk-in-centre.
Nurse appointments must be booked in advance. If you are seriously unwell with a potentially life threatening complaint please do not attend the surgery, please go to A&E.
At some times of day we may not have a doctor on the premises if they are all on home visits or at the branch Surgery. We are not equipped to manage serious lif...e threatening illnesses in the way that A&E are.
If you are unwell and unsure who to seek help from please feel free to use the National 111 service or for non-acute problems you can book a routine appointment in Surgery.

We have had a number of examples recently where doctors and other practice staff have been approached about medical issues outside practice hours.
Whilst our team mainly live locally, hope to continue to be a cherished part of the local community and strongly value patient-doctor professional relationships, can we remind all our patients that for your own privacy, health related issues are better discussed during your appointment.
Our GPs deserve some non-doctor time too!
... If you are unwell outside practice opening hours please use the out of hours service via 111 and in the case of an acute emergency please use A&E/999

As we prepare to enjoy an afternoon of sunshine and football it’s sobering to recognise that when England play, if they lose domestic violence rates increase by 38% and by 26% if they win.
It is NEVER acceptable for someone to feel afraid or to be attacked in their own home by anyone, least of all a partner or family member.
If you are afraid or in physical danger the police can help it our local domestic violence support charity the elm foundation are available to you https://theelmfoundation.org.uk/

A short, to the point message from our royal college of general practitioners: The UK has had a surge in measles with over 600 lab confirmed cases in 6 months. Our message is clear: Do the right thing - please vaccinate your child against measles.
This is a REAL issue and needs to be tackled. Feel free to talk to any of the GPs or nurses about any fears you have.

🚗 🚘 🚙 Driving Licenses for older drivers 🚌 🚕 🏍
We have become aware that the DVLA has recently changed the paperwork that it sends out to older drivers who are applying for a renewal of their driving licence. The new letter contains the line 'Before returning the application you should check with your doctor(s) that you are able to satisfy the medical standards for driving'.
This has led to a number of problems for GPs and patients as this is not NHS work and GPs are not tra...ined to do driving assessments. The DVLA have agreed to get this letter changed as they have recognised this creates unnecessary workload for practices.
If you need a driving medical we advise you attend one of the DVLA approved drivers assessment centres (Kingsway Hospital, Derby is the nearest - there’s a list on the Older Driver’s Website.)
This does not negate the GP to Patient relationship in discussing health issues in relation to driving during usual consultations and the GP has a duty of care to advise the patient (and if needed the DVLA) of any medical and health issues that may impact on their safety (or others).

Every few weeks we hear another story about the dangers of button batteries to toddlers but it seems that accidents are still happening, please be aware of the risks and keep button batteries well away from small people.
If you think your child had ingested a button battery you MUST go straight to A&E, even if they seem well this is a serious life threatening emergency

We had a reminder today of what a superb local surgery we have. After a bit of a panic last week with my little girl, Dr George agreed to see her promptly. She was professional and calm yet didn’t hesitate to send us for further specialist tests. She then telephoned today to follow up and ask how Lucy was. An amazing service. Thank you so much once again to the team at Wingerworth, particular Dr George this time. We are so very grateful.

I would very much like to thank Claire the practice nurse for all her reassurance and care as she keeps me going after my leg injury. She has been so helpful over many weeks, and even managed to make me laugh, when I thought it would never begin to recover. Her clinical skills are excellent. Also thank you to Dr Sid, who managed to remove over glued sutures with a minimum of pain. Wonderful care at a great practice. Thank you

User

I took my 1 year old daughter down to the surgery unannounced after she became unwell. She was seen within 20 minutes by a Dr, luckily it was nothing really serious. The staff were concerned and were really helpful and kind.I don't know any other surgery that would have been as helpful if I had just turned up like that!! And I used to be a patient at another surgery locally. Always go above and beyond for people and feel reassured that the GPs actually care x

User

I have gone to this sugery since i moved to Wingerworth about 23yrs ago, never had any problems, always get first class treatment from all the GPs, very pleased they are keeping the open surgery it helps lots of people, good luck in the new building

User

Excellent doctors, nurses and reception team. Excellent patient care.

User

Clean environment and very helpful staff.

User

Always been a fantastic surgery even before the new build. Always helpful, never left needing an appointment as you can be seen same day. The maternity care I had there was amazing (Chris) and the doctors i've seen there are always helpful. It wasn't too long ago my little girl had terrible croup and I took her in on the off chance I could be seen, we were seen immediately by Sid and referred straight up to the a&e. Great practice.
