1054 Llanelli Squadron Air Cadets

Over the weekend, 4 Cadets from the squadron attended the 3 Welsh Wing Mini Greens Camp at Penally Training Camp, Tenby. The Cadets took part in many different activities that would help them throughout their time within the RAF Air Cadets. Some of the activities that the cadets took part in are Basic Radios, First Aid, Method of Instruction, Sports and many more. All of the cadets thoroughly enjoyed their time at the camp and came back with qualifications which will help them out in Cadets.

Good luck to our CWO Hopkins who is at the mid stage of his PPL!

The cadets of 1054 Llanelli Squadron will be running the fieldcraft stand for the Air Cadets this weekend at the Swansea Air Show. Why not pop down, and find out more about what we do, and how to join us.

Yesterday was another successful day for 1054 Llanelli Squadron.
The Squadron was successful in winning the Wing Activity Day for the second successive year.
The competitions included First Aid, Aircraft Recognition, Aeromodelling, Drill and Banner Drill.

Another successful weekend for 1054 Llanelli Squadron.
Saturday 19th May, our CWO Daniel Clements attended the Royal Wedding, after receiving an invitation for his community service as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet last year.
Sunday 20th May, CWO Scott Hopkins received his Sir Michael Knight Flying Scholarship award at Royal Air Force Cranwell at the annual RAFAC Awards Ceremony.

Monday night, we held another Ready Steady Cook competition. This consisted of the cadets having to make a meal, using the Trangia cookers that would be judged by the squadron staff.
Points this time were awarded for Presentation, and Taste.
The 3 teams did excellent in the competition, but team number 2 won this time.

Great news for the Squadron today.
Our Cadet Warrant Officer Scott Hopkins has been awarded the RAF Charitable Trust Sir Michael Knight Pilot Scholarship for 2018.
This compromises of:
... 6 weeks at Tayside Aviation, Dundee A minimum of 33 hours flying training
Eventually leading to the CWO gaining his Private Pilots License, subject to passing exam modules and a skills test whilst training in the Summer.

Amazing result for 1054 today at the Afan Argoed Challenge. The team placed 1st for the third consecutive year.
Congratulations to all the cadets that took part.

1054 recognised another successful year last night.
Congratulations to all the award winners, and to newly appointed NCOs and SNCOs!

Cadets and staff are ready for presentation evening tonight, to recognise the achievements of cadets over the last calendar year.

An incredibly fun and informative evening at 1054 Llanelli Squadron with Sgt Carl Graham from the AFCO Development Team. Tonight started with an interesting exercise that showed everyone how fundamental team work is within the armed forces, and then got told what roles are available within the RAF and reasons why we should join. A big thank you to Sgt Graham for tonight, and we hope to see you again soon!
