Remembrance Day Parade

Tonight one of our Junior Cadets continued to paying his respects on this day of Remembrance at his local Church where he went to listen to the ringing of the Church Bells to mark the end of the First World War. He also had the honour to be apart of the team who rang the bells during the service.
Junior Cadet Hervouet has only been with the Squadron since September this year and is already starting to represent the Squadron in anyway he can.

Last week, Cadets from Wales & West attended a special training event in RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus to celebrate the RAF 100, along with other Cadets from the UK.
Their week involved Go-karting, archery, leadership skill exercises and visits from various sections from the camp.
RAF Akrotiri is an extremely busy Permanent Joint Operating Base that supports ongoing operations in the region as well as support for the Sovereign Base Areas on Cyprus. It is used as a forward mounting ba...se for overseas operations in the Middle East and for fast jet training.
As you can imagine, the Cadets were given a fantastic insight into Military life!

Tonight we received our wreath for laying down at the Remembrance Parade

I tried to take some pictures of our exercise tonight, but couldn’t find anybody to take pictures of 🤷🏻‍♀️😉
Tonight the cadets went through the basics of cooking in the field with ration packs, followed by a session in camouflage and concealment.
They put what they learnt to the test by applying camouflage paint and how to successfully hide in the field under the supervision and direction of qualified staff.
... Excellent skills put to the test. Well done! 👏🏼

 Upcoming Events: Remembrance Day Parade in Llangefni. Sunday, November 11th
...  New recruits: Over the last few weeks, new recruits have been learning the fundamental values of the Air Training Cadets. During these lessons they have learnt the history of the ATC, its Core Values and Standards, ranking structure and Radio communication. Once uniform arrives, a training evening will be held to educate Cadets on how to care for their uniform. This will include ironing, polishing shoes and correct way to wear the uniform.
 Ongoing Training/ Projects: We currently have Cadets on their DofE awards. All cadets are taking part in Youth First Aid. The Squadron are creating dioramas for their flights.
 New Project: The latest project for the Cadets is learning about various RAF and MOD camps round the world and their role in peace keeping. This will provide an insight for those who are looking to join the RAF, the various professions the job offers- You don’t have to be a pilot to fly in the RAF!
 Advancement: Cadets are taking their Classification Exams. These exams are part of the progression through the organisations training syllabus. They also work towards a BTEC in Aviation Studies.
 Announcements: We are starting to plan our Christmas Party, so watch this space!

Initial kitting underway for the Junior Cadets on two squadrons, good sight to see so many at one time.
Today the Junior and Senior Cadets are going to be put through their paces in Drill as we get the Junior Cadets ready for their enrolment night where they will become full member of the RAF Air Cadets, and also to get them ready to take part in the Remembrance Parade in Llangefni on the 11th of November.

This weekend we had cadets and staff at the Wing Shooting Competition at RAF Shawbury. Out of six Sectors our Sector won the Shooting Competition.
On Sunday we also had cadets from Anglesey attend a flying simulation training at RAF Woodvale.
We are currently recruiting cadets and staff to help us organise and run all the activities we have to offer

Today cadets & staff from the Squadron along with support from 2474 - CEFNI Squadron Air Cadets, 1557 (Friars School) Squadron Air Training Corps, 2378 - Cybi Squadron Air Cadets yet again assisted Always Aim High with Marshalling. At the end we were presented with a Slate Plaque to thanks for our help at their events in 2017.
