1st edition offers private English and maths tuition for students of all ages in Rossendale with Lyndsey Heys, a fully qualified and experienced teacher.

Please let me introduce myself. My name is Lyndsey Heys (nee Whittaker) and I am known to many children in the Rossendale Valley as Mrs Heys.

I am a qualified Secondary English teacher who successfully trained for my PGCE qualification at Edge Hill University in 2013; I had previously been employed by an international marketing company for product design and have worked with children and adults with special needs.

My determination to become a qualified teacher came from a dream that began after the birth of my first child; a dream to educate children alongside a childhood passion for reading that ultimately determined English was to be my specialist subject, although I still enjoy art, music, history and, strangely enough, maths.

I achieved a BA (Hons) degree in English Language and Literary Studies from Lancaster University obtaining level 2: 1 which I completed in 2012 alongside being a wife, mother of two beautiful children and a teaching assistant in a local special school.

I have experience teaching English in secondary school and further education, as well as experience supporting teaching life education skills in a special school. I have been tutoring during the evenings for some time.

After four prosperous years teaching in secondary schools, but ultimately deciding that politics was getting in the way of a good education, I decided that private tuition was an area where I could continue to successfully teach to motivate and foster an enjoyment for the English subject.

My recent training means that I am up to date with the latest changes to the English curriculum and the new GCSE examination which is taking place for the first time this year. I tailor individual personalised programmes to suit your child’s needs, including special educational needs, and create and foster a safe, learning environment free from distraction and peer pressure.

By working at a pace that is comfortable for your child, using strategies that enhance engagement and focus and by using texts which interest them, your child’s confidence can increase as they can begin to thrive and learn new skills.
