217 City Of Newport Battery - Royal Artillery Description

This is the official Facebook page for 217 Battery City of Newport, a sub unit within 104 Regiment Royal Artillery. The Battery was formed as 217 (County of Gwent) Air Defence Battery and was equipped with the Blowpipe shoulder-launched air defence missile which was replaced with the Javelin system.
The sub-unit evolved to its current status as an Unmanned Air Vehicle equipment battery in 2007, training on the Phoenix system initially and subsequently Desert Hawk.
The battery has supplied many TA soldiers for operations with the regular army.
