UPDATE: South Wales Homes are currently welcoming guests to "266", Heart of the Valleys Cottage in the Aberdare area which can accommodate up to seven guests comfortably. They are hoping to have a second Holiday Cottage open by mid-season 2018 in this same area of outstanding natural beauty. ''Tanglewood'' Heart of the Valleys Cottage will welcome nine to eleven guests with ease. It has four bedrooms and three bathroom/shower rooms, and will have a slate bed pool table to entertain the Dads and Lads. Tanglewood will also have a Children's Playground, Gazebo with Hot-Tub, Barbecue and comfortable outside seating areas, plus also hoping to provide a separate Gym / Games room.

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend, 6 guys chasing thrills on the mountains! It was great to come back to a clean well presented cottage and relax in the hot tub, Diane was very helpful and made our stay very enjoyable!



If you are looking somewhere clean and safe this is the cottage to rent, we will definitely be coming back!

It was very well equipped, Diane had thought of everything. Even helping us by providing a wheelchair for my elderly mother which enabled us to to explore so many more places in the area.



The house is beautifully decorated and the playground in the garden, hot tub and decking surpass expectations.



It's a great location with a variety of destinations to visit all within a short distance. Every day of our holiday was completely different and we loved it.



Thank you Diane, your kindness and all the extra little touches you had thought of were so refreshing and made us very welcome.

We have just come home from our 5 night stay at 266.We though it was the perfect place to stay to explore South Wales.We visited beautiful beaches Barii,the Mumbles and some others,went to beautiful parks just a few minutes away from the cottage.we saw some amazing views and saw some lovely waterfalls.The cottage is so clean and well looked after,really comfortable beds,the kitchen is really well equipped I cooked a couple of times to save some money (family of 5)The hot tub is great we went in it every evening after full days out it is perfect.

We had a superb stay last weekend enjoying the quiet and restful surroundings from this well equipped and finished house. This part of Wales is so beautiful and offers much scope for a great rural holiday with great hiking tracks, lush valleys, beautiful villages, historic sites and plenty of activities. Diane is simply the perfect host and is always willing to help. Would definitely recommend. Good for families, friends and couples whether on an outdoor holiday or just looking to enjoy the venue indoors. Thank you.

This is a lovely beautiful clean well looked after cottage as described and the owner is accommodating and met us on arrival. I booked for my daughters 16th for her to have with some friends and they loved it. Thank you Diane for making it a special weekend.

I will echo all of the previous reviews on this brilliant property..... Diane is a fantastic and attentive hostess and cannot do enough to help you and make sure your stay is a good one. All of the little touches she puts in really make a big difference ! The house is immaculately clean and really well laid out and the patio and hot-tub are superb - Our kids (ranging from 6 to 10) loved the play area which is safe and secure and allows the adults to relax in the sun trap of a patio :) Great location to explore the Brecon Beacons and Cardiff bay... will definitely be booking with Diane again.

Our family of 5 stayed at the cottage for a few days before Christmas and had a wonderfully relaxing time. The Christmas decorations with many twinkly lights really made us feel welcome and festive! The hot tub was a big hit with the whole family and the kids enjoyed the use of the free wifi. The bedrooms were spacious and my teen daughter loved having the whole of the top floor to herself, including en suite shower room. The host was so kind and helpful and recommended many great attractions to us. We particularly enjoyed the Coal Mining museum, the local waterfalls (my 13 year old son's highlight of the year apparently!) and the Dr Who experience in Cardiff.

I would definitely recommend this area to other families as there is loads to do, and hope to go back ourselves one day as we barely scratched the surface!

Oh my word what a fabulous place!! We have just spent 3 nights in "266" and it definitely wasn't long enough. So much to do in the area and no better way to relax in the evening than in that gorgeous hot tub. The playground area was perfect for the children and the house is So cosy and welcoming. Wonderful house with a wonderful hostess. Can't wait to go back in the summer.

Myself, wife and our 3 girls have just got back from a week at Diane's holiday home, Diane has been absolutely fantastic throughout our whole stay, herself and husband made us feel extremely welcome, The house is amazing and the hot tub was used everyday by our girls, as well as having our own private playground which our 4 year old loved, it was like home from home, 266 heart of the valleys cottage is going to be our returning holiday destination as there is so much to explore and the cottage is in the perfect location. Loved every miniute we stayed in 226. Everything you could wish for and much more. Beautifully furnished, very homely with large bedrooms. The outdoor patio area is fantastic with nice privacy, mood lighting and a hot tub( appreciated after a day hard riding at bike park). Large kitchen with complementary tea coffee milk was very welcome after our four hour drive. At the front are nice views of the hills and a secure bike storage lockup. To top off the perfect stay Diane (the owner) was so helpfull with everything and even arranged for us to go clay shooting in the hills on the day of our departure. I cannot recommend this property enough, not one thing i can think of could of improved our experience .Will defiantly be booking again for next year .

The house is immaculately clean and really well laid out and the patio and hot-tub are superb - Our kids (ranging from 6 to 10) loved the play area which is safe and secure and allows the adults to relax in the sun trap of a patio :) Great location to explore the Brecon Beacons and Cardiff bay... will definitely be booking with Diane again.

Our family of 5 stayed at the cottage for a few days before Christmas and had a wonderfully relaxing time. The Christmas decorations with many twinkly lights really made us feel welcome and festive! The hot tub was a big hit with the whole family and the kids enjoyed the use of the free wifi. The bedrooms were spacious and my teen daughter loved having the whole of the top floor to herself, including en suite shower room. The host was so kind and helpful and recommended many great attractions to us. We particularly enjoyed the Coal Mining museum, the local waterfalls (my 13 year old son's highlight of the year apparently!) and the Dr Who experience in Cardiff.

I would definitely recommend this area to other families as there is loads to do, and hope to go back ourselves one day as we barely scratched the surface!

Oh my word what a fabulous place!! We have just spent 3 nights in "266" and it definitely wasn't long enough. So much to do in the area and no better way to relax in the evening than in that gorgeous hot tub. The playground area was perfect for the children and the house is So cosy and welcoming. Wonderful house with a wonderful hostess. Can't wait to go back in the summer.

Myself, wife and our 3 girls have just got back from a week at Diane's holiday home, Diane has been absolutely fantastic throughout our whole stay, herself and husband made us feel extremely welcome, The house is amazing and the hot tub was used everyday by our girls, as well as having our own private playground which our 4 year old loved, it was like home from home, 266 heart of the valleys cottage is going to be our returning holiday destination as there is so much to explore and the cottage is in the perfect location. Loved every miniute we stayed in 226. Everything you could wish for and much more. Beautifully furnished, very homely with large bedrooms. The outdoor patio area is fantastic with nice privacy, mood lighting and a hot tub( appreciated after a day hard riding at bike park). Large kitchen with complementary tea coffee milk was very welcome after our four hour drive. At the front are nice views of the hills and a secure bike storage lockup. To top off the perfect stay Diane (the owner) was so helpfull with everything and even arranged for us to go clay shooting in the hills on the day of our departure. I cannot recommend this property enough, not one thing i can think of could of improved our experience .Will defiantly be booking again for next year .
