Hi. I'm wondering if anyone would be able to help. As the staff member of the local air cadets, we are holding a fundraising evening on the 13th July - a curry and horse racing evening. I am asking if anyone would be able to sponsor any of our 8 races @ £50 a race. You will then be entered into our 9th race for a possibility of winning back some of your sponsorship money. I would be grateful of any assistance with our fundraising. Thanks in advance and if you would like to buy a ticket to attend this evening its £15 per person with a free glass of wine/lager etc . Thanks

75 Years ago today, the D-Day Landings took place. Thank you to those who took part in the landings, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Civilians, many of whom gave the ultimate sacrifice.
We will remember them!

PUTTING THE AIR INTO AIR CADETS!
What did you do this weekend?
Our Cadets made the most of theirs by taking the long journey to RAF Ternhill to experience the thrill of flying a glider. Hosted by the experienced instructors of 632 Volunteer Gliding Squadron, the Cadets were taken through Progressional Aviation Training Packages to familiarised with the practical principles of flight. They learnt how to work with the Viking T1 Winch Gliders both on the ground and in the air, e...ven getting to take control of the aircraft in flight.
Whilst there we had the honour of seeing a fellow Wales & West Air Cadets, Cpl Jake Scott, fly solo for the first time and earn his Silver Wings. Congratulations Jake, excellent Sortie.
A fantastic day was had by all with four of our Cadets earning their Blue/Bronze Gliding Wings. They now look on to the opportunity of training for their Silver Wings and flying Solo.

Small but Mighty.
An amazing day for 561 on the field today. A group of six cadets from Aberystwyth travelled down to Carmarthen to compete against the other squadrons in the wing, in track and field events including 100m through to 1500m, javelin, shotput, discus, long jump, high jump and relay.
CPLs Jones & Davies and CDTs Lawson, Gnat, Coverdale and Lawson all participated in three events each plus a relay, and almost all came away with a top 3 place. CDT Cerys Lawson in... fact came away with a 1st place in all four of her events!
As a result of everyone’s hard work today, 561 has walked away with their heads held high. Out of 18 participating squadrons, and all whilst fielding only six cadets, 561 finished as the 3rd best placed Squadron overall - A phenomenal achievement.
The team also achieved 2nd for both Junior Boys and Girls, as well as 3rd overall for the Boys and 2nd overall for the Girls.
The team will be back next year, and will be out to claim the top spot! Watch out 1429 Cardigan! 😜

A massive congratulations to Sgt Owain Wilson who this week was one of 4 Welsh Royal Air Force Air Cadets to complete the Air Cadet Junior Leaders Course 20. The Course is a challenging leadership course, over weekends spanning several months, that incorporates the Cadet's Navigation, Air Power, initiative, and Military Skills accumulating in a demanding test week. Well done Owain, what an amazing achievement. #JL20 #JLXX #aircadetsjuniorleaders #leadership #fieldcraft

Congratulations to FS Luke Webbon-Thomas who was appointed Lord Lieutenants Cadet at a ceremony at Picton Barracks in Carmarthen. Luke has been a member of 561 (Ardwyn, Aberystwyth & District) Squadron for over 5 Years. Luke takes over the duty from another 561 cadet, FS Carwyn Lloyd-Jones. Carwyn had a very busy year and hopefully, Luke will get his share of appointments also. For the Squadron to have 2 consecutive Lord Lieutenants Cadets, show the great calibre of cadets we have at the Squadron and we think it is a first for the Squadron.
Congratulations to Luke on his appointment and to Carwyn on receiving his Certificate of Merit

Yesterday Evening saw the Squadron hold its Annual Presentation Evening. This event is held to mark the dedication and achievements of the cadets.
Congratulations to all the award winners, you are an incredible group of cadets and an inspiration to the younger cadets.
We also presented Wing Commander Mike Stones (OC No3 Welsh Wing) with a plaque to Thank him for his support and guidance as our Wing Commander as he is stepping down in June.
... Thank you to all of you who attended and most of all to the staff and cadets.

Huge congratulations to the Senior Football team of No3 Welsh Wing who came second in today’s inter-wing competition at RAF Cosford today. The final against a strong Merseyside Wing Team was a close game finishing 1-1 despite 3 Welsh playing with only 10 players. It then went to penalties where we were unfortunate to lose.
Well done all.

A huge congratulations to Flight Sergeant Luke Webbon-Thomas on being picked as Lord Lieutenants Cadet for Dyfed. A well deserved appointment and I think a first for the Squadron in having 2 consecutive Lord Lieutenants Cadets. Just goes to show what a great bunch of cadets we have and also a committed staff team.
Well done Luke
