So huffing and puffy we arrived at 730 , the people who were running this were first class friendly happy etc , she filled the car with fabric . Then we went in the cafe for a drink same again first class . People this place is well worth a visit even if just to go in the cafe ,

The staff here are lovely and helpful. Would never go anywhere else again. 1st class!

User

Purchased some fabric online as sadly there are no more fabric stores left in my local area. Brilliant quality, so really pleased .I don't like buying fabrics online as I can't feel the fabric, but the pieces I bought are lovely. Easy website, quick response to email query. Will def use again

User

Love this place.......the yarn shop is amazing! Fab cafe and children's play area too, what more could you ask for on a lovely sunny day :-) <3

User

I've been to the Liverpool and Birkenhead stores and always left with what I'm looking for (usually a lot more than intended!). The staff in both stores were very helpful in finding fabrics and getting them cut to required length. A big thank you to the Birkenhead store for hosting the quilting demonstration! It was a fantastic experience and encouraged me to buy some lovely fabrics in my first quilting project! Thank you very much to the staff for making us feel welcome and special thanks to Mary for sharing her knowledge and providing us with some much needed tricks and tips! Hopefully there will be more sessions later on in the year!

User

I use the Mostyn North Wales Abakhan.

Your spoilt for choice. There is so much material to choose from. If you don't find what your looking for, I'd be surprised.

If you go late morning, you can have a break at lunchtime for something to eat and drink in their restaurant, then feeling refreshed, you can go back to explore whatever else they have, they have so much more than just material.

Staff are always very helpful.

User

I use the Hanley store and there's such excellent range of products. I knit and crochet and I love all the wool and cottons that they have in. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. They always ask about my latest projects and are happy to order for me if they don't have what I need.

User

I have been to the Hanley store many times and always find what I'm after and more! Visited Altrincham store on Tuesday and this was great too although much smaller than Hanley. Can't wait to visit mostyn next week!

User

I am so envious of people in the north west.

I WANT AN ABAKHAN!!! I love this store, that fabric in the basement bins!!! I would move in if I could!!! I have to travel from Leeds to go, god knows what I will do when my granddaughter leaves uni next year!

I was in Sewing heaven! so much choice.!.....from Fabrics to ribbon, accessories etc... the prices were very good indeed! get loads for your money! & to top all that, the staff were absolutely lovely! very friendly & helpful, I'm disabled and nothing was too much trouble....amazing cafe/gift shop too! well worth visiting! now have a healthy stash for my projects to kick start 2018!!! Been today with my parents, partner and our 2 year old for breakfast with Santa. We cannot recommend this enough. Absolutely fabulous. So well organised, very intimate and relaxed experience and the staff are fantastic. We will be going every year from now on.

I visited the Manchester store in the Northern Quarter earlier today. I visited with my Nan, Mum and Sister (We made a day out of wedding planning starting here). My Nan being an experienced dress maker is making the flower girl dresses for my wedding this summer. She recommended visiting this shop due to their wide variety of materials and her past positive experiences.

The store has everything you need, There's so much to chose from and I found everything I needed - I cannot fault them for that and would highly recommend them for variety.

I have however scored a 3* due to the poor level of customer service I received. An extremely rude lady who was in charge of cutting the fabric on the upper floor. We'd asked a few minor questions, Which materials she thought would work best with each other when showing her the design we were using, stock levels on certain items, a simple do you have any toilets? All of which seemed a burden on her day to answer. The most infuriating part of this, when I finally chose the material I needed and asked her to cut our required length, she simply looked at us in utter disgust and said ''Well this is ┬Ż10.99 per metre'' An extremely rude way of suggesting that we couldn't afford it maybe? I'm still in need of a sparkly net overlay. I had found one that I loved today but her inconsistence to help meant I have no idea whether or not it will be restocked anytime soon. I did end up buying the 7m of fabric for the dresses but I will sadly not be returning to this shop in future because of this woman.

User

Just been to the Bolton store as I wanted a selection of James C Brett wool to make some baby items as a present and was hoping to see the new colours in the dk range but not there. I asked a member of staff if/when they would have it in stock and the reply was ŌĆ£Not sure if we will be allowed to order the new coloursŌĆØ.

Thank goodness ordering online is more reliable! I only went to the shop today as I wanted the wool to use whilst on holiday.

After shopping at the Preston stores for years and spending a fair sum of money in the this store I would consider myself a good customer who should be valued.

This doesn't seem to be the case however.

Customers be warned when parking to shop in this store.

I was in Abakhans for 30minutes and made a substantial purchase. On my return to my car I had been issued with a ticket for ┬Ż60 indicating I was a "non patron" meaning I had left the site to shop in town.

This was definately not the case as I only go to Abakhans for fabric then leave.

I returned to the store to inform the staff - who's response was that they couldn't do anything as it was a private company.

I went into Poundstretcher (where I hadn't shopped) and a very helpful assistant accompanied me out to look for the parking attendant. As he was not around she took my details and said she would email the company on my behalf; which I thought was very kind and helpful of her - considering I hadn't even been shopping in that store.

I have appealed to the parking company with copies of my receipts from Abakhans of purchases made at the time the ticket was issued.

They have declined my appeal stating that the parking operator witnessed me leaving the site - A BLATANT LIE! And had photographic evidence - this was only photos of my parked car; not me leaving the site as they were accusing me of.

I have yet again contacted Abakhans to ask for their support with this matter.

They yet again said that there was nothing they could do to support my case.

I have now had the trouble of having to appeal with POPLA , but if they reject my appeal I am determined to fight this case and go to court if I have to.

I am very disappointed with the response that I have had from Abakhans and will definately not risk shopping in this store again only to be issued with an illegal parking ticket from an opportunist parking attendant.

So other shoppers please be aware that even if you are parked within the time restrictions and using the shops on site- the parking attendant seems to think it is okay to issue a ticket! And it is no use asking Abakhans for any support.

I will definately not be using this store again.

User

Was a long term customer there over the years, until recent event using the reward card... Where it was said the discount would apply to next purchase after the one today...

Don't think so when the card was already full and the staff member understood nothing of that fact.

Won't be coming there again, at least online the price is better and quality also.

User

Very disappointed in the shop in Altrincham. My 71 year old mum purchased some fur fabric last week. She got it out today to make a cushion cover and realised that sadly the fur hadn't been cut straight so one end measured 12" and the other 19" so was uneven. The fur was torn off the roll by the shop assistant. She called the shop and they asked her if she had the receipt. Sadly she hadn't kept it as she never thought for one minute the fabric would have been cut/torn uneven. Of course she knew she paid for the fabric by weight, however it has to be fit for purpose. She was told that they maybe able to help her if she could give the exact time she purchase the fabric to prove her purchase. She was also told that there are companies online that would buy scrap fabric from her. My mum is a pensioner and is in poor health. She should not be treated in such a way. ┬Ż6 is a lot of money for my mum, money she can ill afford to waste. Very very poor service.
