Excellent local exhibits including a Welsh farmhouse kitchen and the whole contents of a local grocer's from the town now long since closed.

Small museum with a range of displays about the town through the ages. A lovely display downstairs regarding the women of Abergavenny and what they have achieved over time, through to what they are up to today to make the lives of others, themselves and the local area better.

The lady on the front desk of the museum didn't even lift her head to greet us! No castle as such to see so the museum was the only attraction and was very small. Situated away from the town a cafe would have been useful as the grandchildren explored the grounds.
Nice grounds with nice views but an hour was plenty before we decided there was nothing more to see.

Beautiful views. The children lived the fact they could try on the costumes. The grounds are also great for little ones to run round in.

Lots of information about verious topics and points in time. Castle ruins that are attached are visible enough to fully imagine the original building. Information is accessible for people of all ages with activities for younger children.

Nice place to spend a few hours and it's free

Beautiful views of the Blorange mountain. Very interesting exhibits in the museum which change regularly

The grounds are so attractive enhanced with the inspiring graphic illustrations. However, this whole show and human effort put in is totally let down by the museum. Apart from the tramp-like curator, stubbing out his smoke as we entered, the scruffy exhibitions were totally irrelevant to the castle's history and experience. We were hoping for a historic review and a taste of 'life in the castle'. This should be the highlight of the visit, the jewel in the crown, but alas, our expectations were flattened.

As far as free places go, this is one of the best. Stunning grounds and plenty of information about the castle and life inside the castle made it a very interesting trip. The mesuem is small but packs a lot of information and artifacts in ranging from early man to WWII. Well worth a visit!
