We have organised a "Sunday Steampunk Steam Train Social..." with the Ffestiniog Railway.

Aberystwyth Steampunk Spectacular is on tour for spring (16th May) 2020! We will be visiting the iconic village of Portmeirion, star of The Prisoner series.
This is the perfect setting for a social event for steampunkers from far and wide. Come and join us for a day of promenading and socialising, with the odd bit of spontaneous teapot racing and tea duelling!

Join Dr. Susan J Davies. A historian and specialist in archives and manuscripts, she is an alumna of Aberystwyth University and completed a long teaching career here, as well as external advisory work in the archives and heritage sectors. Prof. Roger Boyle talks about the Victorian 'Atmospheric Railway' with a live demonstration!. Atmospheric propulsion acquired a brief popularity in the first half of the 19C after a long prehistory. Many of the best-known Victorian engineers fought very public battles over its merits: while it delivered many of its design aims, and achieved the land-speed record. This talk will look at her life, and her work, concentrating on her inventions and her vision of the future of calculating machines. Was she the first programmer? Was she a genius?
