Providing an affordable counselling service to people within travelling distance of Newport, South Wales

I offer a confidential service to people living within travelling distance of Newport using mainly Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy and Person-Centred Therapy all of which are used to treat the various forms of depression and anxiety such as Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Abuse, Anger, Relationship, Bereavement, and Suicide.

CBT is an effective therapy for most psychological disorders and is the therapy of choice for many practitioners and organisations such as NHS, It works by looking at the ways that people view events and strives to identify negative thinking patterns and replace them with a more balanced view of the problem. CBT is a relatively short-term form of treatment that can be applied to a wide range of problems.

During the initial consultation we would work together to identify how counselling can be of use to you as well as to agree the number of sessions required and when they are to take place. Subsequent sessions will then be used to work collaboratively to:

identify problem areas
plan a structured way forward
agree practical goals and objectives
work to reduce /alleviate presenting issues
All sessions will last approximately 50 minutes and can take place either weekly or at a frequency that is agreed between counsellor and client.

I work within Newport area and can offer day and evening sessions as well as limited sessions on a weekend to fit in with the client’s work and private life.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and as such am bound by their Ethical Frameworks for Good Practice. I also carry Professional Indemnity Insurance which covers my therapeutic practice with clients and hold a current Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Certificate.
