It was with these highly renowned and respected Gold Bar Instructors that they achieved their Degree grades.

Chief Instructor, Alan (4th Degree Black Belt), has 18 years’ experience as an Instructor and has achieved Silver Badge Instructor Status with the World Kickboxing Association and is recognized as a Level 1 Instructor with the Cobra Martial Arts Association (a nationally recognised Martial Arts association to whom the club is currently affiliated). He is also a qualified ‘C’ Class referee and judge.

Senior Instructor, Chris (3rd Degree Black Belt), has 14 years’ experience as an instructor. From the age of 12 to 16 he competed in Light Contact competition and then turned to Professional Full Contact Kickboxing, competing all over the country until he retired from competition in 2009. During that time he won Welsh and English Titles, held British Titles at three different weights and retired as reigning ISKA British and Commonwealth Light Middleweight Champion.

Today we took a small team of 3 up to the BLCC event in Birmingham.
First up was Talha Mian who was coming off the back of a good win in May and he certainly carried the momentum into this one. He was totally dominant in every department and took the unanimous point win.
Talha then stepped in for a second contest in a rematch with the boy he beat in May. Another good performance and showed another side to his game... this time he had to grind out the unanimous points win in a... fairly scrappy affair. Sometimes you have to win ugly too 🙌 #toocool
Next up was James Salt making his competitive debut. James is a real technician with superb technical ability and he did not disappoint. His boxing skills and accuracy were on point and he took the unanimous points win.
James also stepped in on late notice to compete for a second time, giving weight away as well as height. Both camps agreed up front that it would be a scored contest and not a demo. James again showed his class, dropping his opponent in the second round and we were all fully expecting another unanimous points win to be informed by the ref that it was a demo. We queried the call and the referee was prepared to make a decision based on what he saw but the other camp insisted on a demo... it is what it is, great experience and as far as I'm concerned another win 🙌
Last up was Matt Meredith also in his competitive debut and he got off to a very good start taking the first round. Inexperience played it's part in the second round meaning going into the last it was 1 a piece. Unfortunately we didn't get the W but no shame as the opponent was a very competent competitor. Lots of positives to take out of a good first performance and we move on to the next.
To say we are proud of the boys is an understatement. Awesome work today boys, you did yourselves and the Academy proud ❤
