Anglesey Model Village And Cafe

One feature of Anglesey Model Village is a model of the local train station, the world famous 58 letter long Llanfairpwllgwyngyll­gogery­chwyrn­dro bwll­llan­tysilio­gogo­goch.
This location is also our postal town, but thankfully our Royal Mail address benefits from the existence of a shortened version, being just Llanfair­pwllgwyngyll­.

Over Summer, both the cafe and model village are open until 6pm every day.

In the days before £1 coin locks on supermarket trolleys, the trolleys ended up being deposited in all sorts of places around every town and city. The AMV canal has attracted an abandoned trolley, but it seems that its presence is confusing some of our visitors; some pick the trolley out from the canal and place it neatly to one side. Whilst we're looking to introduce visitor interaction with the models, we didn't really have this in mind!

For this post we were going to say something like "whilst the kids are exploring the maze, parents can sit back in the adjacent picnic area and watch the fun whilst relaxing with a coffee from the cafe". But what really tends to happen is that the whole family (including the dog) charge around the maze, then after wearing themselves out, hit the cafe for a refreshing 99 Flake thickshake (sometimes with a homemade cake too) before having another go at the maze (followed by another)!

Cyclists are very welcome at Anglesey Model Village. So if you're out and about exploring Anglesey, pop in to our cafe to refuel and get your water bottle topped up as well. We're open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. every day throughout Summer. Home made cakes are available too 😋

The renovation work continues at AMV, as we aim to make the model village bigger and better than before.
One such improvement is to the AMV school, now renamed 'Ysgol Môn'. When we first arrived at the abandoned model village, this model was found hidden amongst overgrown bushes and trees, with a broken roof and much in need of some TLC.
The improvements to this model are still work in progress, but we'd like your input into what happens next. To make it presentable for vis...itors today, we've repainted the school and playground, had new signage made and made a new roof. Not forgetting that sound has been added too! We've also added some school characters including a rather stern looking headmaster.

Enjoy the outdoors this Summer at AMV, with picnic tables, garden games, a maze and ride on train engine. Home made cakes, tasty light bites and lunches are all available from the on site cafe.

SUMMER AT AMV - There's a whole lot more happening at Anglesey Model Village this Summer. As well as a visit to our gardens of miniature Anglesey landmarks and buildings, our play area features a self drive ride on train engine, a maze and there's now a range of garden games. And not to forget a model village gnome hunt too! Or if you prefer, whilst the others play, sit back and relax with a coffee and home made cake from our cafe.

Gnome Hunt is Free. (Entry to Model Village is required). Whilst we're finalising the refurbishment of the Model Village, discounted admission applies (£4 for Adults, £3 for children and £12 for a family ticket (2+2 or 1+3). Tickets are valid for 7 days too!

This Summer make Saturday and Sunday lazy days with the new extended 12pm finish to the buffet breakfast at the model village's cafe.

This beautifully restored model of St Mary's Church in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll is now back out on display at the model village. Incredible to think that only a couple of weeks ago this was a rotten structure that was falling apart. Well done to AMV's Model Technician, Pippa, who worked very hard to produce this fantastic outcome.

Here in the model village not only are we helping the environment by getting rid of our plastic straws and replacing them with biodegradable ones, there are now glass bottles of water in stock.
