Council go away and consider options as the end of the initial consultation is reached. Its a waiting game. Keep your fingers tightly crossed.
On 14th December 2011 at 9. 20pm all Local Councillors in attendance at a Special meeting at Theatr Clwyd voted for a new set of options to be sent to Consultation in February 2010 - Those options do not include Argoed High School. . . . . Congratulations Argoedians - We Saved Argoed! ! ! ! ! !

Save Argoed are a very small group of parents /residents /community members who are campaigning against the Closure of Argoed High School.

There is currently a vacancy for a Parent Governor - Nominations are invited from parents willing to stand for election for this vacant post. All parents, including persons with parental responsibility of pupils attending Argoed are entitled to stand for this vacancy and to vote should election be required. Collect forms from the school to make your nominations which should be in by Friday 28th June 2013.

Just back from the Consultation Meeting at the Elfed. FCC will now proceed in accordance with the standard procedure which you can find in the Consultation booklet (see below for link). You will also find the response forms attached, please take two mintues to complete them as to whether or not you agree with the preferred option (retaining 11-16 provision at the Elfed site). Note: these forms only take 2 minutes to complete and its YOUR childs eductation that is being reviewed, so have your say!
Consultation meeting at Elfed 7pm tonight. Argoed parents/ pupils welcome as it is an option for us at 6th form.
All emotions aside, this really is a very sensible option for our area. With all said and done the issue of surplus places needs addressing. It will be sad to see the 6th form go from the Elfed but there simply isn't any money to continue paying for the empty seats. The classrooms will be temporarily used for other purposes but will remain there and ready when more spaces are needed again. This addressed the immediate and future education in Buckley.
Next stage of consultation starts next week. Argoed is not included but your input is still required to ensure we don't get re-included. Please please keep checking back here for updates and act as needed.
