Have you noticed how heavy many of the tree branches are with seeds? It’s a great time of year to collect them and to use them in art making. I have noticed ash, sycamore and tree of heaven ‘keys’ are particularly plentiful in the UK this year.
In this piece I was thinking about what ‘seeds’ I have sewn this year, and what did I grow? I reflected upon what seeds I wanted to plant in the year ahead. What do I intend to feed, water and nurture?
The black pieces of painted paper around the sea glass and shells symbolise the soil, the dark matter or the unknown, the void, and the recently planted seeds gestating in the dark.
