About Artisans Collective

A Social Enterprise currently based at the Old Library on Nant Hall Road Prestatyn

Artisans Collective Description

IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHEN VISITING

Free car parking is available on Ty Nant Car park alongside us.

Under the terms of our licence, the Old Library does not have any public toilets internally. Accessible public toilets are within 40 metres of the building.

We have 12 public disabled parking spaces alongside the toilets and building.

RADAR NKS keys are available to people who require use of the toilet facilities fitted with a Radar NKS lock due to their disability or health condition.

RADAR keys cost £3. 50, and you can buy one after providing your blue badge or evidence of your disability living allowance, at the following council buildings:
Corwen one stop shop
Denbigh one stop shop
Prestatyn one stop shop
Rhuddlan one stop shop
Rhyl one stop shop
Ruthin one stop shop
St Asaph one stop shop

We offer a unique community facility in Prestatyn. Where Artisans, Artists and Craftspeople display and sell their handmade art and craft items on the Old Library shelves.

Increasingly we are becoming involved with community health and wellbeing, through working with Healthy Prestatyn Iach.

Dementia Friends awareness sessions are held at The Old Library, members of our team chair and take part in the Prestatyn Dementia Friendly Community steering group.

We have evolved into an organisation that can react to a envisaged social need and “go for it” in a very fast proactive way compared with conventional institutions with various levels of command and control. At a recent meeting the Auditor General Huw Vaughan Thomas told us: “We live our lives and learn by taking risks. We must do the same thing professionally. ” That inspires us.

The good thing is that we can organise most things quickly because of the lack of bureaucracy and red tape within our CIC. Things are risked assessed and analysed as required, but that is part of everyday life here.

Alongside displays of local interest and a unique community hub facility in the heart of our town.

With heritage items and local information including walking resources provided by Walkers are Welcome and the Prestatyn & Clwydian Range Walking Festival.

Featuring Ceramics, Needlework, knitted crocheted items, Pure Natural Bath, body & pamper products, Leathercraft, Art, Handcrafted Wood and Acrylic, Clocks, Papercraft, Upcycled, recycled, and repurposed gifts, Bags and accessories, Jewellery, and lots more.

We are open for retail sales Tuesday to Saturday 10am until 5pm.

We may only have the junior artisans left to host at the Old Library on Saturday.
But our community activities continue today at the Morfa Gateway Project with the Free Wooden Reindeer workshop.
Tomorrow we are holding the Prestatyn Dementia Friendly Community drop in session at Torello Lounge.

One of the things we will be preparing for when we close at lunchtime will be our final event onsite of 2018 and a meeting with Mair Davies from Plastic Free Llangollen about a community event next year at Morfa Gateway Project.

Sometimes we overlook how much voluntary time goes in for community groups, for instance maintaining their web sites and suchlike,
We look after 8 sites and ensure that they are designed to work across all platforms, including smart tv's.
The picture below is our latest post on the telly.

We have reached a milestone on our Artisans Twitter account with over 10,000 tweets all promoting activities, events and businesses within our community locally.
We have just checked and across our accounts we have positively tweeted over 50,000 times about Prestatyn. Even if each one took only a minute that is over 833 hours worth!
Twitter has brought a lot of professional interest to our activities, where as Facebook has brought more discussion.
... Why not join us and help spread the word about how great our locality is?

It is that time of year when traditionally we extend seasons greetings and Christmas wishes to everybody.
This year we are spoilt for choice with events locally to attend.
With us facilitating so many community groups and being engaged with so many other different organisations it is impossible to attend every Christmas dinner or event. We did pop in and see… [ 466 more words ]

From a year ago and who would have believed that we have done even more for our community in Prestatyn and Denbighshire.
With our Morfa Gateway Project and Prestatyn in Bloom efforts soon to be featured on the BBC.
Proud to work with lots of different community groups to better our locality.
