Attic Gallery

As an artist who has exhibited successfully with the Attic gallery for over 20 years, I don’t recognise Warren W’s description of the gallery. I have always found the owners, Sandy and David Roe very good and professional to deal with and have had no problems whatsoever. In my opinion this gallery is one of high standing and standards and will be to Swansea’s detriment if the gallery closes next year when the owners retire.

I was surprised to read Warren W’s review of the gallery, which I thought rather unwarranted.
It was great when some years ago the Attic took on my work, which is varied and somewhat out of the norm, but have successfully sold for me every year since. Alan

No exclusive artists any longer due to them being underhand with artists payments to the younger ones (James Donovan, Nick Holly, Warren Williams, etc) and therefore being unable to keep or attract fresher talents to replenish the older ones who are passing away (Valerie Ganz, George Little, Wilf Roberts, Aneurin Jones, etc). Very little variety on display, as they only seem to focus on David Carpanini and Gareth Thomas, with both of those having at least one exhibition a year, though the gallery advertise at least 40 very capable artists: one email to the artists insisted on them painting smaller works, the gallery claiming "because they're easier to sell", whereas in fact it was to make as much room as possible on the walls for Gareth T and and David C's paintings. The gallery reputation among artists is very low, with numerous stories of interfering with work, interfering between buyers and artists over commissions, unexplained framing costs for unaccounted frames, double pricing, obscure costs, and website blackouts.

This review is for artists thinking of approaching this gallery.
