This busy little modern business has it's roots in a very old trade indeed. Before coming up with the idea for Baa Stool I trained for two years with the Association of Master Upholsterers, spending the majority of the training time up to me eyes in horse hair and black fibre learning traditional upholstery skills. #tbt #behindthebarndoor

This week's word is NEW. Not New Year...new products! However, my news years resolution is to to write this weekly 'Round Up' which will give you a peek inside the workings of a small creative business.
I should have been called Annie - last minute Annie. The first thing we need to do after Christmas is get ready for the Trade Shows in January and that means new products. We have a long long list of ideas that I should be working on all year...an...d I do...I just never seem to be able decide what are the winners are until the very last minute. This isn't helpful..I know. It means it's always a rush to get the new products ready for photograpy for the new brochure. On the flip side the workshop has quietened down after a bonkers few months leading up to Christmas so Sanna the Supervisor has time to turn the ideas into reality.
We're chuffed to pieces with the new range. The Tuffets are something I've wanted to do for ages but I've been waiting for the gorgeous conical metal legs to arrive...they've taken ages but are so worth the wait! I think they're going to be very popular. The seat pads were something I resisted. I want our products to be innovative and stuff that no one else is making. We've added a twist by appliqueing silver cowhide stars onto the seat pads...they're so unique and funky...I love them! We're all excited about where else we can use the stars...watch this space!
Next week we load up the van and head to the NEC to build our stand in time for @januaryfurnitureshow which opens on Sunday. It's a Trade Show where we'll meet buyers from shops, department stores, website retailers and interior designers looking for products to sell. More on this next week.
Lesson learned: Plan ahead - last minute is stressful!

My chocolate Anwen foot stool is not just a lovely peace of furniture to look at - it’s a joy to put your toes in - a seriously quality product from a local business going from strength to strength - lovely people too. A must for some quirk in your home. Big recommend from me.

I’ve had my blue baa stools for a couple of years now. They are still as good as new, despite fairly reasonable use. The colour has not faded and the frame is still very stable. I use the brush that comes with them regularly and this helps to keep the fur clean and nice looking. I would recommend this company, any day!

I used a couple of the skins/rugs to luxuriate the backs of a couple of chairs. They're absolutely beautiful and such great value for truly amazing product. Feeling sorry for the poor old sheep now. Very helpful staff. A real 5 star rating all around.

I have recently discovered Baa Stool and so far am the proud owner of a square cushion, a heart shaped cushion and a fabulous sheepskin-covered notebook. The product quality is fantastic and the service impeccable. I am looking forward to buying my first stool proper in the very near future. Highly recommended.

Found this little gem of a business after spotting and adopting our first Baa stool from one of our local shops and we have been regularly adding to our flock ever since. We are particularly fond (some might say slightly obsessed!) of all things rare breed and have a number of stools cushions pouffes flockstops and a recently acquired much coveted draft excluder. The quality of all the products is exceptional and there is an extensive unique range to choose from with something to suit every style and budget. We are always being complimented by visiting guests on our fluffy flock which have helped make our house a lovely welcoming home and we are only too happy to spread the woolly word to all our friends and family . But it is the customer service that really sets Baa Stool apart. Nothing is too much trouble and you are always guaranteed a personalised quick and friendly response....going out of their way to accommodate any special requests and help you chose the perfect product.....a genuine pleasure to deal with. Honestly couldn’t recommend highly enough. We are very satisfied Shepherds .
