Our next event is on Wednesday 26th April at 7:30pm in Blue Sky Cafe.
Our speaker is Tom Anderson from the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton
Title: Why we should trust projections of global warming by climate models
... Just how reliable are projections of global warming during the 21st century, given the complexity of the climate system? Prof. Tom Anderson will show that warming can be separated into two components 1. baseline warming due to the greenhouse effect (attenuation of radiation in the atmosphere by absorption and scattering) 2. extra warming due to climate feedbacks. By understanding uncertainties in the climate system based on this separation, he will then demonstrate that the projections of warming made by the big Earth System Models are fundamentally trustworthy.
Hope to see you there!
