Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation to gently scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. It also eliminates that annoying peach fuzz that cakes up in makeup. Dermaplaning also allows for greater penetration of skincare products and creates a flawless canvas for makeup to glide on smoothly. It is a painless procedure and also safe for pregnant women to have done if they want... the exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals.
Dermaplaning is suited to all skin types. Patients with sun damage, fine lines, very dry skin and dull skin are great candidates. However, since the procedure requires use of a sharp scalpel, those with enflamed acne should pass on it until their complexion clears up.. a skin peel procedure would be a great treatment to have along side the Dermaplane treatment for those with acne and problematic skin!
Dermaplaning will not make your hair grow back thicker or any darker as the hair on the face is vellus hair.
The procedure removes three weeks of dead skin cells, so you can have the treatment every 3-4 weeks however it should be every 6-8 weeks for those with oily skin.
