SAD DECISION It is with regret that Beachside Cafe, which has been at the heart of the Rhyl community fir jyst under 5 years will cease trading at Central Beach from April 2019.
Our lease comes to an end in April 2019 and our intention was to invest in the business by extending and improving the inside seating area and making changes to the front windows and moving the cooking area. In order to do the works and get pay-back on the investment we would need a new 15 year lease.... We discussed this with Officers from Denbighshire County Council who, verbally, approved of our intentions. However, on trying to negotiate a new lease with Denbighshire County Council they would only offer us a 5 year lease which makes the plans unworkable.
We strongly believe in Rhyl whixh is why we wanted to make the investment, we would not be applying for grants or funding we wwould be putting our own funds back into Rhyl. We feel we are not being treated equally to other businesses, for example has the new Marsdens Pub, Travel Lodge, The Kite Surf Cafe or The Hub only got a 5 year, non-assignable lease? We doubt it.
When we first opened it was our intention to offer good value, tasty food and drink with a friendly welcome for residents and visitors alike. With your help we feel we have achieved this and would like to thank all of you for your custom, loyalty and friendship over the past 5 years.
If you feel strongly enough about the decision that DCC Officers have come to, we appeal to you to contact your MP, AM, Denbighshire County Councillor and ask them fir an explaination of this unfair treatment by DCC.
Once again thank-you all very much, the past 5 years have been great with many friendships made, which won't go away. We are still here until April and we will still be living in Rhyl so hopefully we will see you around.
Please feel free to ahare this post. David and Alison

We had a visit from one of our regular customers/friends today. Cathy comes from Colwyn Bay 2 or 3 times a week, today she brought us a poem she has composed, we thought you'd like to see it
"To My Beachside Cafe Friends"
A treat for me... Is to go by the sea And feel the wind in my face To look up to the sky And think I wonder why My eyes are seeing space
To be in a lovely place And we my friends Full of joy and grace
To have a treat and The people you meet From all walks of life They forget what goes on in their life And they see a new light
Strangers become friends on sight Once they meet you they will never forget you. From Cathy.

The Silent Soldier is back in position, with many thanks to Ian Murray Chainsaw Carvings who has remade and fitted him back to his rightful place. We have been overwhelmed by the response from people offering to help with his repair or replacement and in the next few days we hope to have some more of his companions to join him. Thanks you to North Wales Police who have been very proactive in helping us.
Thank you to everyone for your comments and please share and like this ...page to show just how strong the Rhyl community is. Thanks David and Alison.

UPSET AND ANGRY/ Tuesday evening at around 5 pm an assault took place on the “Silent Soldier” figure and on a disabled gentleman, taking drone pictures on the prom. He was subjected to verbal abuse and stone throwing for expressing his disgust at their actions.
The damage to World War One ‘Lest We Forget’ veteran made in metal by the Royal British Legion needs some repairs but we don’t have the skills at Beachside Cafe to mend him. Is there anyone out there in the Rhyl Commu...nity who could take a look at him please?
Police are involved, and CCTV is being checked for the three lads dressed in black who did the damage and tried to assault the disabled gentleman flying his filming drone at the time. Schools, local people and officials are involved in the search for these disrespectful, sick youths.
Please help spread this through your own social media contacts. Hopefully someone can help us restore the Silent Soldier to Rhyl's Promenade. Lets try and make a negative fact into a positive one for this town.
UPDATE:. The amount of help and support to get the Silent Soldier back on display has been wonderful, Rhyl really does have some amazing people in it. Whilst every comment is welcome could you please refrain from using bad language as it does cause offence.
