So today marks the end of our first week of careers fortnight! The students have had the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a variety of different job roles such as a barista ☕️, chef 🥣, beautician 💅, radio presenter🎙, office worker 📋 and groundsmen 🌿. Some of the students even experienced a job interview with one of our colleagues from Careers Wales. It’s a great way for our students to be able to experience the life of work and develop skills to support their future. Bring on next week!

Congratulations to the Silver DofE team who are on their way back to college after another successful expedition! They've had a great few days completing lots of fun activities such as paddle boarding, camping and hiking.

Today we have Training 2 Care with us giving our staff an experience that may reflect how some of our students with autism live on a daily basis. This includes activities in a sensory overload environment including lights, noise, smells and wearing gloves to undertake activities in a time pressured scenario. This has affected many of our staff deeply with some moved to tears with the realisation of the daily efforts some of our students experience. Some of our students have also taken part and have related strongly to the experience. Thank you Training 2 Care!

Members of our #Education team took part in an AquaChallenge recently to raise money for @noahsarkcharity.
They've already raised £440 and would like to say thank you to all that supported them (including those that went along to laugh at them on the day).

And they're off!! Students have prepared their lunch, packed their rucksacks and made their way to the starting point. Good luck to all the students completing their bronze Duke of Edinburgh award over the next 2 days.

Our Principal Clinical Pyschologist, Dr Vaughn Price, was at the Autism Show in Birmingham last weekend to deliver a workshop about Communication and Positive Behavioural Support. There was a lot of interest in his talk, if you would like to see a copy of his presentation follow this link: http://bit.ly/PBSandASCpresentation

As part of professional development at Beechwood College we offer regular education refresher training in order to help staff support students in the classroom environment. Two lecturers delivered an interactive training session today which covered key aspects of the college day. It's great to see the teams working collaboratively for the students best interests!

Something for us all to live by no matter how old our children are.

We are growing our teams so are having a Recruitment Open Day on June 26th in Sully.
If you know anyone that thinks they might like to be a Support Worker, why not post this event on your timeline so they know they can drop by for a chat. And if you know any LSAs looking for a new opportunity we would love to have a chat with them too.
