THE SCHOOL:
The Bernadette School of Irish Dancing is committed to providing various levels of traditional Irish Dance instruction, focusing on individual skill as well as teamwork. Whether the aim is to dance competitively or for fun, dancers have many opportunities to make new friends, get great exercise, and perform throughout the local area. Ultimately, dancers learn the value of hard work, persistence, teamwork and dedication while gaining great knowledge and respect for Irish culture. New students are always welcome throughout the year.
BACKGROUND:
Established since 1989 The Bernadette School of Irish Dancing was founded by Bernadette Jones. Founded with only 10 students, the group has grown to over 50 children, including boys and girls of all ages. Dancers have performed at various events throughout the South Wales including the world renowned Pontadawe Arts Festival, the annual Bumbles of Mumbles Show, and The Best is yet to come in the Grand theater. Their most notable performance was dancing with Jimmy Cricket & the Nolan Sisters in Swansea Grand Theater.
COMPETITIONS:
The school attends regular competitions, competing nationally and internationally with huge successes. Bernadette organizes an annual feis each year which takes place during October which attracts dancers from as far afield as Holland & USA. The feis is open floor and all dancers are welcome.
