Went in here a few days ago with high hopes as the Blacksmiths we all used to know and love was one of the best in the area. I came into the pub full of hope and was optimistic about the chance of finding a new local to frequent my Saturday nights. Right off the bat, Every single member of staff looked like they were mourning the death of a loved one and couldn't smile even if it would bring them back to life. As I sat down on an empty chair and table away from the main bar I was told that they were having a do that night and that I would have to leave shortly despite the place being emptier than a bankers heart. There was no reserved sign on our table or any of the others away from the restaurant area. After talking with someone who attended the same night, they told me that they also had also been asked to leave but this time because the chef was ill that night and couldn't cook food. I genuinely believe the Blacksmiths arms disseminate these fallacious facts just because they cant be bothered, and loyal customers mean just as much to them as something they might find under their shoe. Avoid it like you would avoid a white van giving free puppy petting sessions to children.

Nice pub finally fulfilling its potential. increasingly popular following its refurbishment and arrival of new landlord. Pleasant surroundings , friendly atmosphere and an open fire. Service is excellent but food is good rather than great

Booked a table, but when arriving the bar staff unsure as to what table so told to sit anywhere. Waited 15 mins for order to be taken, 45 mins for food, it was not that busy, with three waiting staff. 'Roast dinner with all the trimmings' two courses for £11.95 turned out to be either turkey or beef. Beef was a boil in the bag portion, yorkshires burnt, 1 potato cut in half not cooked long enough was the roast potatoes, 3 small boiled potatoes, 1 half of a parsnip, 1 sprig of broccoli, a few small carrots and about 15 peas. We had to share a very small tub of veg between us. And a quick apology for the delay when the food arrived. The 'warm' choc and orange pudding was cold. Service was slow. The fire wasn't lit. I was cold the whole time in there and people had kids running around climbing on the chairs of tables where people were trying to eat. Football on two screens. Staff didn't have hair tied up when serving. No goodbyes or Thank you when we paid or when we left. Not impressed for the price, sorry Blacksmiths.
