STORM CIARA:
The Met Office has issued an Amber warning for strong winds, and a yellow warning for heavy rain brought by Storm Ciara throughout this weekend.
Impacts could include damage to trees and interruptions to power supplies. There is also likely to be some minor structural damage such as fallen tiles and slates.

During periods of high winds, these are actions residents can take to minimise the amount of damage to home and belongings and precautions to keep you and others safe. * Remove or secure items that may be blown away such as patio furniture, trampoline, ladders, bins etc. * Close and securely fasten doors and windows. * Shelter indoors. If you need to go outside, watch out for flying debris such as loose tiles and branches. * Do not attempt any repairs outside during a storm * If power cables are brought down by high winds, stay away from them and do not touch any items that may be in contact with power lines. Report it to your electricity provider. Make sure you are prepared should there be a power cut. * Report dangerous or downed trees on highways to the Council's emergency line 01495 311556 * Driving in windy stormy weather can be hazardous. Consider if your journey is essential and drive slowly with your lights on. Allow extra time for possible transport disruptions. * Ensure bins and bags put out for waste collection are weighed down to avoid refuse being blown around. * Check buildings for safety before they are due to open.
