About Borderland Ciders

Artisan handmade ciders using locally grown apples from in and the Newtown area

Borderland Ciders Description

A number of reasons have inspired me to take up small scale cider making. As an engineer by trade, I like to make, fix and improve the overall efficiency of things in general. The craft, skills and incentive to turn apples - especially those that might go to waste, into a quite delicious drink, while at the same time helping to stimulate the further cultivation and use of fruit, provide my family and I with a simple and enjoyable balance of work and play. The apple is at home in any temperate climate, particularly the British climate, but compared to 30 or 40 years ago, so many varieties have become exhausted or lost through wholesale grubbing of orchards. Until recently, cider has been particularly neglected. Now, there is a revival in the real product, as the need to promote apple culture is more "pressing" than ever. I hope you enjoy it!
