About Boundary Art

A combined gallery and tea garden.

Boundary Art Description

Boundary Art intends to create a combined space that provides customers the opportunity to contemplate of art works whilst enjoying tea and coffee in a fresh, unique and friendly atmosphere.

We tend to establish a sort of culture fusion, as the fusion of western and eastern arts has already become the basic rule of contemporary art. For us, there is no limited genres or forms, we appreciate every piece of artwork that expresses impressive aesthetics and emotion.

Our emphasis has always been on the communication and trans-boundary of arts, cultures and thoughts. We celebrate new thinking, and offer an international platform for artists, curators and writers, whether they have made their reputation here or abroad.

Boundary Art welcomes all audiences. We make it easy for everyone to engage with art, encouraging questions and supporting debate.

Incoming Tide Kate Bell
Kate Bell is a professional artist, creative practitioner and lecturer and has been teaching art for over thirty years in both secondary and further education. She has an MA in Fine Art: Contemporary Dialogues at UWTSD, Swansea College of Art.
... Her creative practice stems from a fascination for the vital connection between land and sea, sea and sky, nature and mythology, male and female. The coastal landscape is a place of memories and imagination. Her paintings are not a direct representation but rather a feeling, an emotional encounter, an embodiment of my sense of place through a continual dialogue between real and imagined geographies, both physical and psychological. She is intrigued with what’s left behind, tracing, mapping absence through exploration of the liminal place between land, sea and sky- anomalies in the land and seascapes which harbour portals into other worlds – cracks, crevices, fissures, alignment of stones, sea caves, shorelines – thin places, but also through the sea, shipping lanes, lost ships, the movement of the sea on the land and humans on the sea.

Archipelago Amy Salisbury
"Amy’s work represents more than just a beautiful image, her interest lies in capturing the natural environment focusing on the underwater world and more recently the solar system. Revealing the force, power and harmony in nature, her work seeks to rouse the emotions and connect us with the beauty found in nature and envelope the viewer in energy and colour of landscapes, seascapes, skies and cityscapes."

Today sees the start of a new exhibitin at the gallery. 'Teulu' an exhibition of work by 3 very different artists from the same family. Mati, Tegerin and Gwyn Roberts, will be shown during the National Eisteddfod at the Boundary Gallery.
Gwyn Roberts will be exhibiting new work, inspired by Wales' amazing... landscapes, from the mountains of Snowdonia to the wild coast of West Wales. Gwyn exhibits his dramatic work extensively, both in Wales and England.
The work of his son, Tegerin, is inspired by Wales' industrial heritage, from the coal industry of South Wales, to the slate quarries of the North. Photography is a important element of his work, but he also produces colourful, geometric, abstract paintings and meticulous, detailed prints.
Mati, his daughter, is the third member of the family. Her work brings a completely different element to the exhibition. Her colourful, bold and modern items are made from fabrics collected in Africa and Asia, and she creates beautiful sustainable jewellery using the left over fabric.
Today's schedule -
15:00 - Opening
16:00 - Live music from Cyswllt Celtaidd and contemporary dance by Gwen Elfyn Jones
17:00 - Music from The Happy Valley collective featuring Catrin Greallt

Next weekend sees the start of our new exhibition at the gallery.
Private viewing Saturday 4th August 3-8pm
“Teulu”... 4th August 2018 – 18th August 2018 Exhibition of work by 3 very different artists from the same family. Arddangosfa o waith 3 artist gwbl wahanol o'r un teulu.

A couple of years ago, Mati volunteered as a nurse in a little village in Ghana. She completely fell in love with the vibrant colours and patterns of the beautiful, locally produced fabrics, which are under threat from imported Western clothing, putting jobs and traditions at risk.
A contribution from the sales of the show will go to help to send resources to a new school in a fast-growing, impoverished area of Accra, Ghana, with few local facilities. The school has been called Mati Montessori School, following the close relationship she has formed with the friendly people of Ghana she has got to know during and since her visit. Most of the school has been built and it opened in May for 36 pupils, with many more keen to start. They are in great need of learning resources and she has made links with a relocating school in Bridgend to recycle their excess resources to the Mati Montessori School by the end of the year.
Everyone is welcome at the opening of the exhibition at 3pm on Saturday the 4th of August, when there will be live music from Cyswllt Celtaidd and contemporary dance by Gwen Elfyn Jones.
