Excellent narrow guage mountain railway. Enclosed carriages so weather isn't as much of a problem as it could be. Quite a long trip up the mountain and back again, with great views - weather permitting.
Great fun. Recommend getting an early train exploring at the stops and gettig another train back. Lovely day out with the family. Nice people and fantastic views.
Had a lovely day out here. Stopped off at reservoir for a walk around before catching a later train back. Nice views. My boys (4yr olds) loved standing outside the carriage while travelling and watching the train being moved around. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
Brilliant day out. The railway station was spotless, very well looked after. The train was beautiful, a lovely ride with views he cant get anywhere else. The cafe and rail museum was a brilliant added bonus. Good price
Fun takes me back to when our neighbors took us on a steam ride to Robertson NSW Australia Welsh country side as pretty. Church ruins welsh pubs little towns Roman ruins, windy roads and changeable weather but to our good fortune no rain or wind a lovely sunny Welsh Sunday. Spent with new friends. Bring on further good weather, lookout Scotland were coming to you.
Great railway, fantastic train and a good cafe on the way back. The train station could do with a bit of brightening up on a grey day - maybe a few planters filled with flowers. The gift shop has some nice train related items but also a lot of non relevant items - a bit of a shame. A really good value morning, thank you very much to all involved.
Not as much in the way of views over the reservoirs and the climb as I would have anticipated plus the trip gets a little too drawn out with the refreshment stop on the return run. Other heritage railways offer better value than the £14 adult return in my opinion.
Excellently run railway. Immaculately kept trains and facilities. Beautiful scenery. And you can ride outside at the carriage ends which adds an extra dimension!
I went with my partner (we're a young couple - say 30s) and we liked it but I'm not sure I'd recommend it to someone like us. It does look like a great thing to do with kids though! We took the train as we only had a couple hours free before going back home, so we thought it'd be a nice an easy way to see the Brecon Beacons. Unfortunately you don't see that much though, you are way better off going up the Pen y Fan or something, because the train doesn't really go high up; there's nothing to do at the first stop, and the second one is basically just to grab a cuppa or gelato although expect long lines. Overall it was a nice experience, but quite a pricey one in my opinion.
