About Brewers Fayre

At Brewers Fayre we've thought of everything. Great value, great food, great family friendly atmosphere; we've got the lot. Our menu is packed full of family favourites all freshly prepared by our trained Chefs. Barry Island was newly built in Autumn 2012 & today we are a modern restaurant with a slightly art deco feel. Overlooking the waterfront, we are just a short walk from Barry Island Beach, the steam railway & Barry Island Pleasure Park, & not far from Cardiff Airport & Porthkerry Park. Our tasty pub food, served up in generous portions by our friendly team, is great value & worth coming back for time & time again!

Wonderful staff who were more than helpful - even went as far as to bring out the dressing used on my meal so I could make sure it was vegan and that I was happy with it.

Some places would have just lied to save time but I really appreciate the extra effort!

Great food too.

I think it's so much better than the sooner harvester in Sully . Staff as so nice !!! And the food it a good price . I like the fact there is lots to choose from on the menu . It's really nice and they seem to be organized things run smoothly and the staff dont look all stressed out . Only thing I would say on the the curry night there was only 2 bowles of curry about and they were not labeled so you didn't know what they were . No nann bread either. I think there is ment to be more Curry's to choose from .

User

I have to say I found the staff extremely helpful and welcoming yesterday and the food was lovely. I’ve always heard mixed things but i couldn’t find fault in anything. The portions were just enough

User

It was good prompt food quite nice I had the Atlantic cod which was big and nice fish the chips could have been better. Refillable drinks are good for the kids. Friendly staff.

User

Staff are very friendly and work hard to make sure things run smoothly. Perhaps they could have tried a bit harder on my last visit though to stop the feral children running round the adult dining area (away from their "attentive" parents sitting in the kids area) playing hide and seek under customers tables while trying to eat!

Food is generally OK but only average pub grub type meals. Don't try the steak as it's generally of poor quality cuts which are fatty and full of gristle (I've tried three times now with similar quality)

Turned up , was told we hadn’t booked in the name of Dite ... took 5 minutes then was told we’ve only got a table booked for a Russell Dite 45 minute wait for food ( warned) 1 hour 10 minutes kids watching fireworks out the window .

By all accounts mix up with tickets in kitchen , young girl said she’d let manager know ... said manager couldn’t of been arsed as nothing, not an apology ... food average at best . Nice few pints of Carling though

User

Had a table booked for 6:30 got there a bit early, only to be told no we haven’t got a Dite booked.. Oh yes we have,it seems your table has been given to someone else.... We had a table cleared for us and were told it would be up to 45 minutes for food, that’s fine, fireworks don’t start till 7:45... Quarter past 7 ish I eventually asked a young lady if our food was nearly ready and was told she’d find out. Well she never came back until she eventually served us our food nearly half hour later! Sat waiting an hour and 10 minutes with a toddler and a nine year old,who then watched the fireworks through the window. Had to ask for the garlic bread that was meant to come with the kiddies meal, side portion of chips were cold and and the chips on my husbands meal too. Apparently they got our ticket mixed up. I didn’t even hear an apology although my husband said they did say “ sorry we’ll have a word with the manager”. We ended up leaving!!!

User

Wow brought the kids for a snack and some ice cream and so disappointed. A starter of chicken goujons was a very poor size for the price and a ramakin of sweet potato fries set us back £3.50!!! Would never go back as completely over priced and lacking in taste and attention. If there was an option I would have given it 0 stars.

User

The food was really bad had to take mine back as it was dry and burnt my mums cooked dinner meet had a load of fat and grizzle on it was disgusting won’t be recommending it to anyone

User

Terrible experience spoilt a 60th Birthday meal for a family member , no banners had been put up as arranged waited ages for food when it did eventually arrive it was only one meal the rest of the party of 8 had to wait another half hour for ours and then only 2 meals came out so between that and the rudeness of the manager we left and went to frankie and Bennys Cardiff bay which at such short notice gave us a table, banners went up and the birthday celebrations began , will NOT be returning to brewers Fayre at least until things change !

User

Luc warm curry, the most pathetic splash of cheese sauce on the 'smothered' cheese chips. Burgers where dry and the quater pounder is not a quater pounder. Their were no signs on the 6 different currys so we didnt know what we where putting on our plates! What if someone had a serious allergy?

The guy we spoke to said he would send us a £30 voucher via email too compensate however, to use the voucher will be the only reason we go back. Think the chefs need to go on a day course to remind them how to cook a decent meal.

User

Just had the worst meal of my life only eat because we was Starving after waiting an hour for 2 cold currys with uncooked nan breads. Asked for portion of chips which cost 2.50 and only had 6 chips in a bowl which where also cold and had black bits on. Daughter had pasta and garlic bread and she wouldn't eat it because it was awful. Staff seen we wernt happy but didn't help. Never eating here again. £35 down the drain.

It is 2018 and basic food hygiene should be a very basic expectation in any place that serves food to the general public.

It is absolutely NOT OK for any server to deliver freshly cooked food with their fingers and/or thumbs on your plate. It is not a "premium service" to expect that dishes are served using napkins - it is common, decent and basic food hygiene.

I would have like to hope/expect that the manager would at least teach the servers the basics of serving but it turned out that the person serving us was the duty Manager and it was the same guy who had served a table nearby a littler earlier and then wiped his hand on his pants as he walked away from the table.

Yes we got a partial refund for the food that we declined to eat but not an apology or an acceptance that anything was wrong. We were assured that he would definately have washed his hands after clearing a table prior to serving us and that this was "their standards". The hotel receptionist suggested that we should maybe go into Cardiff if we wanted a "Premium" experiece... Really??? No we just don't want fingers and thumbs in and on our food plates - if you cant even get that right... What else is going on in the kitchen that we don't see?

Brewers Fayre - you are a big organisation and you should be training people better than this.

If your looking for somewhere to have an enjoyable evening where you can sit and chat with friends and family whilst eating edible food then brewers Fayre Barry is NOT the place for you. The staff are rude, arrogant, and unhelpful. The manager (Kirsty) has to be the most vile human being I’ve ever met. Her people skills are non existent. Whilst we were there last evening we witnessed the manager starting a full on argument with a distressed woman who was only trying to find out where the rest of their meals were. My thoughts are with the customer who the manager ripped into for no valid reason infront of her whole family inc several kids.

Brewers Fayre surely this behaviour is not acceptable ?? Would you be happy to be treated like this at a ‘restaurant’ ??

Needless to say we will not be returning anytime soon and certainly wouldn’t eat at a place managed by Kirsty !

User

Faulty Towers has nothing on this place. Manager is extremely Rude and Arrogant, and couldn`t Run a bath let alone a Restaurant. The Staff were clueless as to a pre booked surprise Birthday meal, and were clearly embarrassed and uneasy as to how their new "Manager" was running things. Meals were ordered, and an hour and a half later "1" meal arrived at our table for the person celebrating their Birthday. A further half hour past and after still no meals were served for the rest of us! We asked to speak to the "manager" and was told she is too busy to talk to people? Eventually she appeared, and in front of other shocked Diners she ranted and raved that we were basically not patient enough! Their is no table service, which means you have to ask to borrow a pen to write your own orders down then take it to the Bar. After waiting 2 hours for food, we decided to leave. Oh yeh, and by the way- You Pay "up front" for your meals! Where`s Gordon Ramsey when you need him.......

User

Every time I come here the food is terrible, but the staff are brilliant.

Today we had two rib eye steaks. Now a steak is a pretty safe bet, not much you can muck up. As long as it's been tenderised properly that is and not just slapped on a grill, the only other thing that can go wrong is it isn't cooked properly. Both happened today. The staff replaced one but by then of course the meal had been ruined.

Last chance saloon today, we won't be back.

User

Disgusted that I've just been laughed at by the manager when I got really burnt because the table flipped and was unsteady when I cut my food for my baby, the old lady and man next to me even said it was appalling when I asked for help while the gravy was scolding me he told us too wait.. I'm appalled and will be taking this further!!?

Terrible experience spoilt a 60th Birthday meal for a family member , no banners had been put up as arranged waited ages for food when it did eventually arrive it was only one meal the rest of the party of 8 had to wait another half hour for ours and then only 2 meals came out so between that and the rudeness of the manager we left and went to frankie and Bennys Cardiff bay which at such short notice gave us a table, banners went up and the birthday celebrations began , will NOT be returning to brewers Fayre at least until things change !
