A 5-bedroom (sleeps 12), Country House In Brecon Beacons National Park.
This wonderful house, set at the southern end of the Brecon Beacons National Park, offers the perfect base for a holiday or short break based on the countryside.
Local activities include fishing (on the famous Rivers Usk and Wye), shooting (on a local estate), walking (along the Brecon-Newport Canal) or, for the more adventurous' in the hills of the Brecon Beacons, canal boat hire, hang-gliding, golf (choice of several courses), cycling (cycle hire available locally) - again on the flat or test yourself on part of the Milk Race course over 'the Keepers', gliding, horse-riding and much much more
All this in addition to the glorious countryside - the hills of the Black Mountains, the beautiful winding rivers with all the associated wildlife - the historical heritage throughout the area - local castles, museums, churches and of course the renowned World Heritage site of Blaenavon, offering a history of the industrial life throughout the area. As well, less than an hour's drive will get you to Cardiff, where you will find everything you would expect from a capital city or the beautiful beaches of Swansea and the Mumbles.
The house is set in the country but within easy reach of the M4 and M5 motorways, giving access to London, the Midlands and the West Country as well as an improved road link to West Wales. There is a local railway station that is set on a main line between South Wales and the North and Midlands.
Set in its own mature gardens, the house has been recently refurbished, offering modern facilities in a traditional setting. There is plenty of off-road parking, well-maintained lawns to enjoy, overlooked by the railed terrace and lots of little nooks to explore.
Downstairs, all off the impressive tiled hallway (including an additional cloakroom), there are three reception rooms. The main lounge offers plentiful comfortable seating arranged around the wood-burner. The dining room seats twelve easily, warmed by another wood-burner. The third lounge has more seating and would be ideal for reading, listening to music or playing board games, being separated from the main lounge by a glass screen. Note that the on sofa opens out for use as an extra bed if required.
The fully equipped kitchen has two ovens, five-ring electric hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and, maybe most importantly, a wine cooler! In addition the utility room houses the the washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as the boiler cupboard for the oil-fired central heating that serves the property.
Moving upstairs and you will notice the family bathroom, including a separate shower cubicle. The master suite is at the end of the light and airy landing. There is a king sized bed and easy chairs. No wardrobes though, as these are in the dressing room and offer plenty of hanging space and drawer space as well as a dressing table with lit mirror, for those important final touches. There is also an en-suite shower room with toilet and wash hand basin.
In addition to the master suite, there are three other room with double beds and loads of cupboard space. One of them has a further en-suite shower room.
The final room features four single beds, again with plenty of cupboard and drawer space.
The whole house has loads of large windows, creating a light and airy ambience throughout and it is almost impossible to occupy the house without a smile on your face.
