About Bute Park

Welcome to the official Bute Park & Arboretum - Cardiff's premier park with a nationally-significant tree collection. Please see more info for disclaimer.

Bute Park Description

Welcome to Bute Park & Arboretum, a 56 hectare green haven in the heart of the city. Situated beyond Cardiff Castle, a short walk from the high streets and civic centre, Bute Park really is the "green heart" of the city, flanked by the River Taff, Sophia Gardens and Pontcanna Fields.

The Arboretum, created in 1947 contains the highest number of "champion" trees in any UK public park, with a mix of interesting and ornamental trees. Champion trees are acknowledged as the tallest or broadest of their type in the British Isles.
