Learn Shukokai Shito Ryu Karate in a safe and friendly environment by an experienced 4th Dan black belt who has over 20 years of experience.

Bwlchgwyn Karate Club; the highest Dojo in Wales, is a recreational karate club at which we practice the application of practical self defence techniques learned through the study of traditional karate. With over 28 years experience in Martial Arts in general and Shukokai / Shito Ryu Karate in particular, senior instructor Sensei Steve Tilston, 4th Dan is always willing to pass on his knowledge and is on hand for beginners and more advanced students.

During a typical training session you will learn such things as:

- Basic blocks, kicks and punches
- Basic techniques are practiced against impact pads
- Prearranged forms of movement called Kata
- From the Kata, general self defence will follow
- The self defence is then applied to a form of sparing called Kumite

Many people take up Karate for different reasons. These can include:

- Learning a traditional martial art and practical self defence

- Removing fears and believing in own ability

- Making new friends, keeping fit and flexible

- Improving motivation and self confidence
