This is a super site. The facilities are quality, clean and tidy. The prices are high but the site has strict rules which means I can enjoy a peaceful holiday. Id recomment pitching on higher pitches as lover pitches by the river can get boggy. Its a short river walk into the village and the views are amazing.
Great place to be, stunning scenery and friendly atmosphere and staff
We stayed at Cae Du in early July for two weeks, and we had the most wonderful time at this beautiful campsite.
Campsite was quiet, staff were really pleasant and very helpful and knowledgeable especially about the best midge deterrent ! Yes it is more expensive than some other campsites, but to wake up to the views in the morning is more than worth it. Showers, toilets and washing up areas were kept spotlessly clean. Having the barrier at the entrance means that you feel your belongings are secure.
Fabulous early morning walk down to Beddgelert with the dog every morning, just watch out for the goose down the lane !
We cannot wait to stay at Cae Du again.
Great site in a beautiful location. Staff were very helpful to me as a lone traveller and all support staff were chatty and friendly. Great footpath to the village with lovely views everywhere
CAE DU WAS THE WORST CAMPING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. £38 PLUS A £10 DEPOSIT, WHICH IS LUDICROUS, WE DIDN'T EVEN GET THE FULL £10 DEPOSIT BACK BECAUSE MY FATHER BRIEFLY PARKED IN THEIR CARPARK AND THEREFORE £2 WAS TAKEN OUT OF OUR DEPOSIT! THIS IS INSANE! THEY EVEN CHARGE FOR VISITORS! £1 FOR A DOG , THEY HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING . THE OWNERS OF CAE DU ARE ARROGANT, RUDE AND DISCRIMINATIVE SINCE THEY CALLED MY MOTHER A LIER! HOW DARE THEY! OWNERS SHOULD BE PROFESSIONAL AND NOT SAY "OH YEA, BRING IT ON" WHILE DOING A "WINNING" ARM MOVEMENT WHILE I SAY THAT I WILL GIVE THEM A BAD REVIEW. THERE ARE SIGHS EVERYWHERE SAYING "BE QUIET ALL THE TIME", "NO MUSIC" AND "PAY, PAY, PAY". THERE WAS EVEN A MAN ON "PATROL" TELLING PEOPLE TO BE QUIET AND TO TURN THE MUSIC DOWN. EVEN US AND THE IRISH PEOPLE WHO WERE PLAYING A LOVELY GAELIC TUNE WERE DEMANDED TO TURN OUR MUSIC OFF , THAT RUINED OUR NIGHT AND GAVE US A DOSE OF THE REALITY OF THIS CAMPSITE. THIS WAS GOING TO BE AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE , AND IT WAS. I WOULD RATE 0/10 BECAUSE IT MIGHT OF BEEN EXPENSIVE BUT NOTHING IS SPECIAL, IT'S BELOW AVERAGE AT BEST, THE OWNERS ARE JUST MONEY STEALING THIEVES WHO HATE FUN.
If you're caravaning then this is probably a nice site for you but personally I really don't like this one for camping. Everything is ordered by alphabetical areas which are been subdivided into numbered sections for your particular plot.
Pros:
Beautiful views of all the mountains.
Very good facilities. Laundry, washing up, lounge/dinner area.
Hot water that you don't have to pay for in the showers.
A shop on-site that you can pick up anything that you've forgotten or run out of.
Cons:
No mobile signal to the area and even though there is WiFi available at the site you have to pay for it per hour.
The most expensive campsite that I've been to, but then it is right at the base of Snowdon so probably to be expected.
Very loud and noisy into the night from some of the other caravans / campers, bad language and drinking, it's the only campsite I've ever felt uncomfortable being as a solo female camper.
If you want peace and quiet after walking in the hills which you are right in the middle of or not this is the place to be 10 minutes walk from Beddgelert town for pubs and food good showers no music or groups of revellers to mess up a recharge of life
Really clean with friendly staff and good facilities. It is only a short walk down to the village and a nice walk up to the lake. Great location for getting to Snowdon too.
Stayed here a few times now. Pitches are enormous. Showers and toilets are really good. Wifi available at a cost. Pleasant walk along the river into Beddgelert. We will be back!
