Wedding breakfasts for 52 can be held within the Dining Room, with a further 40 evening guests, whilst larger events take place in the grounds where a marquee for between 150 – 200 can be erected.

A little bit of history
Caer Rhun Hall is a grade 11 listed, three-story late Victorian mansion in a style showing Elizabethan influence, built of roughly dressed, coursed pale gray limestone with red sandstone window surrounds and chimneys. It was built in 1892 by General Gough on the site of Plas Caerhun, a seventeenth century house with medieval origins. Many of the original features remain including the wood panelling in the main hall.
The Davies family who owned the Caerhun estate in the seventeenth century, were descended from Sir Gruffydd Llwyd, Lord of Dinorwig and Tregarnedd.
The estate remained in the same family until late in the nineteenth century, although it was inherited several times by a female, which resulted in some name changes.
The first time this happened, in the early eighteenth century Hugh Jones, husband of Grace Davies, changed his name to Jones Davies. In the next generation, their son left the estate to his sister, who was married to a Ralph Griffith. The family name then became Davies Griffith. When Edmund Hyde Hall toured Caernarfonshire in about 1810, Hugh Davies Griffith, the owner was a minor; he must have been the grandson of the above couple. Later in the nineteenth century Catherine Hester Davies Griffith, who married Richard Hemming, inherited the estate, and as her children were all girls except the first, who died without issue, it is probable that it was the marriage of the eldest surviving daughter which brought the estate to General Gough.
General Gough was a distinguished military man, having been Colonel of the Royal Horse Guards, Colonel-in-Chief of the 60th rifles, Commander-in Chief in India during the Sikh wars, and also Governor of Jersey. He sold the house to Dr G H B Kenrick, a barrister who also had Indian connections, having been on the Viceroy’s council. With the house came General Gough’s military portraits, for which there was no room in his new, smaller home. The house and gardens have been in the hands of the present owners, the Andersons, since 1953.
The gardens which were redesigned by General Gough in 1892 measure approximately 10 acres. Many of the trees were present before the redesign took place and are over 100 years old.
At the far end of the garden there is a football pitch and also a 5 hole practise golf course.
There is a Roman fort (The Roman fort of Canovium) just beyond the golf course, which is still plainly visible as a bank. Within this there is a Roman church (St Mary’s); Roman masonry is visible in the church walls.
The house has been running as an accountancy college since 1953, having been started by Ronald Anderson, and is still in the hands of the Anderson family today.

We’ve just spent the last 24 hours relaxing at the newly refurbished Caer Rhun Hall and it was amazing!

A warm welcome on arrival which included a glass of Prosecco, our bedroom was beautiful overlooking the stunning cedar tree and the best bit Spud loved visiting too!

We had the chance to explore the local area and visited a beautiful church close by!

After a comfortable nights sleep we enjoyed a lovely continental buffet breakfast and just before we left we were given a tour around the venue and listened to all the exciting plans they’ve got for the future!

Perfect venue to escape the digital world we live in and as responsible dog owners it was amazing to see Spud being treated as a guest too! He was even brought a fresh bowl of water after his run around the grounds, now that’s tray service for you!

Anyone looking to stay in North Wales I would recommend staying here!

We invited friends to celebrate my 60th birthday with afternoon tea at Caer Rhun Hall. We had excellent service and the food was lovely. Loved the character of the hall, can't wait to see what develops in the future. Definitely be back.

We held our f2n Branch Managers team meeting at Caer Rhun Hall yesterday. The booking was simple to arrange, the staff are friendly and accommodating. The room was all laid out for us and Andy was there to greet me. I'd forgotten my laptop cable so I was able to use the hotels laptop, saving me a journey to the office and back!

Andy helped set up the projector/screen and organised iced water for the tables.

I hadn't preordered food but asked if we were able to get some pasties and the chef was incredibly accommodating bearing in mind I hadn't preordered. Thank you to the team for looking after us and for another great f2n Business Network team meeting.

I fell in love as soon as i entered the building, full of character and quirkiness.

Afternoon tea was very good, well presented by lovely staff.

I also recommend a walk in the grounds, beautiful autumn colours at the moment.

See you again soon!

Had my wedding here. Stayed the night before with some of my family and was made to feel like it was my home. Staff were great and went all out for us. The day of the wedding arrived and we were brought breakfast to my room for myself and all my bridesmaids. I had a 2 weeks old baby and staff made sure I had a fridge in my room for babies milk. The day from start to finish went so smoothly. Nothing seemed to much to ask.

If we could do it all over again we would. The day was amazing which is down to not only the beautiful building but the staff that run it.

Thank you for making our day the best it could of possibly been.

User

Caer Rhun hall just became one of my favorite places on Earth. The building and grounds are astoundingly beautiful, but the people are even more an attraction. We instantly felt like family and, thousands of miles from home after a stressful day, that touch was invaluable. All this and an expertly cooked and served English breakfast... who could ask for more?

User

Beautiful old hall with lots of character and very well kept grounds. Comfortable bedding, and nice toiletries in the rooms, and biscuits with the in-room tea and coffee - always a plus! Very nice breakfast cooked to order (also fresh croissants and rolls). Staff were always very helpful and friendly any time of day or night. Free wi-fi in the rooms, but beware, no telly! Would definitely recommend.

User

Beautiful house and gorgeous grounds. Actually nice not to have a tv in the room but glad i took a small Bluetooth speaker to have music whilst in my room. The house is loaded with character and the staff are very polite and friendly. Breakfast was lovely and freshly prepared to order. Toast and cereals are laid out to help yourselves to.

Looking forward to staying again one day.

A delightful setting for our delicious afternoon tea plus Prosecco. Really tasty sandwiches, cakes and scones - we needed a doggy bag! Tea and coffee was topped up if required.

The hotel is a recent venture and I hope all goes well, the guy who served us was so nice. A pleasure to visit.

User

My friend and I have just had a gorgeous afternoon tea here. The staff were very attentive but not too pushy, we sat an chatted over some delicious food for three hours and were not hassled to leave n any way. The Hall itself is a delightful old building. We wish them well for the future and as I live a ile away hpe to revisit soon. Well done.

User

Had a lovely stay in a family room with our 2yr old (found it very exciting and went on a 'ghost hunt' in his slippers) and 9 month old. Had a few drinks in the bar/tv room before bed. Breakfast fab. Staff helpful re bottle heating/baby food heating. House and grounds amazing.

User

Andy couldn't have been more helpful. He even changed our room as we arrived before other guests.

The room was huge! Bed super comfy just too warm.

Gardens are magical with lots of hideaway places.

I absolutely fell in love with the place.

Could use a little dusting though.
