A magnificent castle and a popular tourist attraction. Expect to climb and descend a lot of narrow, poorly-lit steps if you want to get the full benefit of your visit. Great views across Snowdonia.

Very interesting piece of history, well maintained and worth the entry fee. good displays and good views from the ramparts. Also good to walk around the outside and see just how big it is.

Great place to visit.

Good value on entry, gives you a good hour or two of exploring, especially if you have younger ones. Weather was poor when we went but didn't ruin the day, 6 year old loved it.

Loved taking the kids around the castle. What a lot of fun climbing the stairs and exploring. Wasn't sure whether they would like it as castles can be a bit grown up but my 4 year old loved it. And we kept getting lost!
Great views to be had across the town. Not bad value either.

Interesting for all ages including children of 8. They have an app to look for dragons that works well and doesn't look your battery too much thought be very careful that the little ones don't stop your phone as there are a LOT of places it could be lost!

They have a simple treasure hunt and a cheap cafe. We were happy with the limited facilities as the price was kept realistic. Entry fee was worth it.

We would not likely visit again as we saw everything in about 3 hours. I think you can bring your own sandwiches.

Staff were very very friendly and helpful. Exemplary!

One last thing. There are a lot of stairs. So sturdy shoes are important.

Really interesting castle with tremendous fortifications. Double walls, extra large area to shoot out of the slit windows, etc. The stairs are quite tight in places and the towers very high. But these provide great views of the area.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that we could wander wherever we wanted throughout the entire castle. Inside the walls and towers is like a rabbit warren of stone corridors and rooms, some tiny and some large, with some of the large rooms containing informative displays. Children are further entertained by following clues to find hidden plaques that lead to a puzzle answer.

User

Loved this place plenty to explore wouldn't like to meet someone on the stairs though. Museum is great as well. Obviously this is 100s of years old so is split over various levels with tight corridors and narrow staircases but they weren't thinking about tourists back then. Definitely recommend

Seriously impressive castle.
You can climb right to the tops, the highest towers are accessible if you have the head for it. Wonderful history in the place and the views from the top of the towers are breath taking. Kids love it. It's huge, it's tall, it's ancient it's in a beautiful location.
