We visited this charming cafe for the first time today and had the three course sunday lunch which was outstanding. We received a lovely welcome from Stuart and his staff and were so impressed with the food and service that we have already planned further visits to sample their breakfast menu, an afternoon tea and their forthcoming cabaret and dining night. Also being a dog friendly establishment we were able to take our well behaved dog. Looking forward to our next visit!

We had gorgeous Sunday dinner. The slow cooked beef was so tender and juicy, it was beautifully done. Lovely little place, very cosy and comfortable. Extremely friendly staff. Will definitely return again to try other food on menu.

This is a small delightful Cafe tucked down a little alley. Run by a French Lady, who cannot do enough for her guests. The food is limited, but what is on offer is superbly cooked and presented. Well worth a visit, but book as it is a small place limited tables.

This is a hidden gem well worth a visit. First time there today and the food and staff were outstanding, i will 100% be returning xxxx

User

The good there is fantastic, well priced and they give you lots of it! Staff are always brilliant when we come (and we've been back a lot!) and the little cafe is quirky and fits right in with the soul of the place

The Cafe du Chat Noir is a small traditional French style cafe located off Wellfield Road. The cut-way there is like Wales' own Channel Tunnel. Once you reach the cafe the decor, accents and tastes transport you to Paris. You may immerse yourself in the experience and converse in French or merely start with bonjour. Not all the staff speak French, but they certainly all cook it, so prepare your taste buds to enjoy. A strong recommendation and a place I will certainly be returning to visit.

User

Thank you so much for such a yummy lunch today . The French onion soup was amazing. Such a friendly place to meet up with friends & enjoy your fabulous food & wonderful service. I can’t wait to go again xx

User

Such a lovely atmosphere and lovely staff. What makes it even better is the gluten free bread option making most options on the menu available to coeliacs and those suffering from gluten intolerance. So grateful for the gluten free options. Will be returning often.

User

Succulent lamb shank for Sunday dinner. Nice homemade mint sauce. Best cauliflower cheese I've ever eaten. Staff are charming and authentically French. So helpful, service first class. Small cafe big on charm, service, quality & value for money. Will return.

User

Lovely food, great atmosphere, Stuart and his team made us feel very very welcome.

We came for the entertainment, a fabulous singer who entertained us durning courses. Will 100% be back for the next musical evening.

User

I'm really not suprised it hasn't had lower than a 5* review. A little gem of a cafe nuzzled off Wellfield Road. The Welsh breakfast was awesome with perfectly poached eggs, and really tasty sausages. Lovely staff and a cosy quiet place, highly recommended! :)

I live in Canada, but many years ago i lived in Roath Park area, and always shopped at the Wellfield Road and Albany Road area, my cousin has recently visited your cafe, and sent a video of your cabaret night, your cafe looks lovely, and the singer was great, i felt really homesick and cried when i saw my cousin Marilyn, Daniel, Ian,and Alun so wish i could have been with them..They had a great time and said the food is really good, so i will be checking in again to see what is going on...Great Place...

Gorgeous food & friendly staff. Brought home a menu to use in school too! Booking is recommended as the café is quite small & very busy which is always an excellent sign. Thoroughly recommend it.

Second visit. Today we had a tasty dinner with orange duck. The people working at the café are so nice and friendly. I had a chocolate mousse which was home-made and rather delicious. A great evening in a welcoming environment.

User

Excellent, authentic French cafe with lovely staff and fantastic food. The place is just the right size to make it feel like a secret find and while away an afternoon with a delicious meal, cheese and of course wine. We will back very soon for an evening meal.
