Went here for Hoggin the Bridge end-of-ride. Lovely setting and had a fantastic day. Even the weather was good!.

Ended the hogging the bridge event there. Weather was beautiful and castle stunning. I want to go back and have a proper look around without having to lug the bike gear with me :)

Good venue for walking around the park, watching the football or visiting the well preserved castle (and tea rooms). Free parking, camping available and plenty of space. Also has a duck pond :-)

Great castle with steep, twisty staircases leading to good views from the towers. Events put on in the grounds and all for free. See if you can spot the terrapin in the pond at the back!

Lovely grounds for family walks; dog friendly. Great little park for the kids. Free parking too; a little gem in the heart of Caldicot.

I accompanied my child's school (Year 2) on an educational visit to Caldicot Castle, and was very impressed by the activities which were laid on. The historical interpreters (archer, falconer, knight & lady of the castle - pictured) gave really memorable talks to the kids, which managed to be both informative and entertaining. For the seven-year-olds, the highlights ranged from seeing a falcon fly to hearing and experiencing what daily life was like in the castle 700 years ago.

All in all, thoroughly recommended for an organised school trip.

A great place to explore a 13th century castle for free (please note there is an admission charge on event days, otherwise entry is free). It boasts a cafe which serves beverages (tea and coffee), soft drinks and alcoholic drinks too. I recommend the Welsh brewed Castle bitter. Large grassy areas idea for children and dogs. Well worth a visit.
