Camping At Ynysfaen

Lovely area and picturesque campsite alongside a river with plenty of open space.

We really enjoyed the first few days here, met some lovely campers and enjoyed exploring the area, but then things started to go down hill.

The owners have a long list of rules which must be obeyed or you will be spoken to rather rudely, very rudely in some cases. In our case, we were taken to account for minor misdemeanours such as the children visiting the toilet block without an adult. My worst failing during the stay was using a bin located at the front of the site. Standing there like a scolded child, I learnt that rubbish was to be taken home, the bins were not for campers. On the plus side, there was plenty of options for recycling, I assume that is free to dispose of for businesses in that area.

I have stayed at Ynysfaen numerous times, The owners are wonderful people and completely welcoming. The site is perfect for stargazing!!! The showers and toilets are outstanding, the site is immaculate and the fresh eggs, jam, bread are a real treat. Hopefully staying again this year as this is the only site I now consider when camping.

We've stayed at Ynysfaen twice, which in itself says it all as we never normally return to places. But Ynysfaen is one of those places you'll want to go back to again and again. The site is so peaceful and well set up, Jane and Nigel are fabulous, friendly and helpful, and the Brecon Beacons National Park is such a wonderful area. Oh, and the firepits and the star-lit nights ...

Poor customer service, unwelcoming

Great owners, lovely fresh air. Lovely clean facilities. Fridge provided for milk, cheese and meat. The water for drinking is delicious Welsh spring water. You can choose where you pitch your tent, and there's bags of space. I love that the cars don't go on the field, and there are wheel barrows provided to get stuff to the tent, because it makes it so much more chlid-friendly! We've been twice so far and loved it.

Absolutely brilliant campsite! Stunningly beautiful location, Spotlessly clean toilet/shower block and a very friendly welcome from the proprietors, you couldn't ask for better. I'm in great danger of becoming a regular. :0)
