Think we are safe for a good while yet. 30 mins of utter hilarity, and now two semi-hypothermic children are in the shower plotting tomorrow's adventures. Map stolen from Dark Sky Wales, the orange arrow shows where we are, in between the 'bright lights' of Lampeter, Felinfach and Llanybydder! Quite a difference to the Swansea/Cardiff area of Wales!
No wonder we get such good stars out here :)

On the dog walk this morning 'we' aka the kids, stomped and smashed 23 frozen puddles. Our friends and family in Canada will probably claim it is still t-shirt weather but -4 is cold enough for a hat and gloves for me! I managed to grab a picture of this beautiful one before it was comprehensively destroyed! . . . #frozen #ice #puddles #winter #dogwalk #patterns #cold #brrr #minusfour #kids #getoutside #destruction #wrapup

I am just beginning to formulate my resolutions and it seems that some of you have them all sewn up already! I think 'being organised' must feature as we have had 4 bookings in the last 24 hours.....my aspirations are below, any of you care to share yours??
1. Read more books 2. Visit the beach more often 4. Write some letters... 5. Explore more 6. Laugh a lot 7. Set realistic goals ;)

Midnight feast for the campfire crew. We have just woken them up and they are still half asleep munching through it all. May your 2019 be filled with joy, fun, surprises and plentiful chocolate crossiants and marshmallows :)

The Winter Solstice is my favourite day of the year (after fireworks night). A promise that this is the darkest it will get and that Spring is on the way. I am spending it feasting with friends, and drinking gin - which may have to become a tradition.
Hope you enjoy it wherever you are.

It beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Wendy the tree is up, the kids have expertly decorated her. I am making spiced apple chutney and panicking about the dress I haven't yet made, the presents I havent yet brought and the trees I haven't yet ordered let alone planted!! . . . #christmas #crafting #allthethings #chaos #chutney #sewing #plans #trees #kids #decorations

The hilly part of the orchard looking fab in the winter sunshine (2 days ago, it is pouring today!!)
Come spring there will be a cascade of blossom down the hill. My Dad has planted early flowering varieties at the top with the latest flowering varieties at the bottom.
If nature is obedient (which it rarely is). We should have apple blossom from April-July and the trees should flower in sequence! They climbed the seam all the way to the top. It was slippy, about 2 inches wide and bits of the slab kept breaking off. One of our resident (but elusive) barn owls just graced Dan with its presence. We have heard them lots but have been waiting almost 2 years to see one. It was 8m away and 2.5m off the floor. Apparently it was beautiful! :) #farmlife #owls

Rarely do I get a whole day to myself. My to do list, when I do, is usually pages long. Today I have done yoga, walked the dogs in the sunshine, swung on the swing with the sun on my face, eaten ALL THE CHEESE and drunk mulled apple juice. I have probably fogotten something important I was supposed to be doing but for now I am ignoring that sinking feeling :). Diolch pawb, Thank you, thank you, thank you :)
We'll that's a wrap for another glamping season. The barn is open year round but we have said goodbye to our last guests for the safari tents.
So far this year we have welcomed 476 people and 25 dogs to the farm, quite a few of you more than once :)
... Over 150 jars of jam have been made and consumed and the pigs have been spoilt rotten with plentiful belly rubs, apples and carrots!
We are so very grateful to everyone who has been to stay, we have had an absolute blast. We are looking forward to a slightly quieter winter before we start all over again in the spring.
Thanks again from all of us x x x

Wow. Simply wow. Any words I could use to describe this place would truly not do it justice.

In this cleverly designed spot you get the both of best worlds: camping and glamour. While the tents' outside was pure greenery, animals, rivers, ponds and hills, the inside was a five-stars stay. Clean toilets with a flush and sink, fully equipped kitchen and suuuuper comfy and cozy beds.

I spent a weekend there, together with a large group of friends, and by the time leaving time came we just did not want to step in the cars! Ellie, Dan and their smart little girls are incredible hosts, sharing their time with us made our stay even more memorable.

I would recommend this place to anyone looking to divorce the stressful fast-paced everyday life and spend some time in serenity and peace of mind.

User

Wow! This word was said a lot throughout our stay. Ellie and Dan have done a fantastic job with the safari tents, it really is a home from home. We are keen campers but this has made us think twice about ever putting up our own tent again. Just to give you an idea of what you may find: The beds are beautiful to look at and are so comfortable, the bed linen felt like something you would find in a 5* hotel, a flushing toilet in the tent, running water, lovely wood burning stove, fully kitted out kitchen and hot showers in a nearby cabin. All of this set in a stunning, quiet place where you can find free range chickens and sheep, a friendly cat and happy dog. You are able to help feed the animals and there are unique touches like a very professional bug hunting kit (upon request) which kept our kids entertained for hours. We felt the children were very safe exploring the magnificent grounds as they keep cars away from public areas. Ellie, Dan, Lyra and Isis are a lovely family that welcome you but give you the freedom to enjoy your holiday.

We also visited a nearby seaside town called Aberaeron. We spent a long time climbing rocks, finding shells, taking in the views and went for a nice lunch in The Hive.

We will not hesitate to book again and will be recommending it to all friends and family.

User

Wow what a perfect two nights away. We couldn't have asked for more. We arrived in the dark and were warnly greeted by Ellie who helped us transport our belongings from the car down the track in a wheelbarrow to our wondeful tent, which had the fire already lit to make it feel even more welcoming. The tents were amazing, well equipped with everything you need. Ellie, Dan and the girls made our stay extra special, collecting my two kids to feed the animals each morning which was really exciting for them both. We loved the fire pit, pond dipping, egg collecting, off grid lighting (solar lamps), running water, cabin bed and the wonderful hospitality and freedom for the kids to explore. Thank you both so much we will be back :-)

User

Wow - what a wonderful holiday we've just had. Kids running free the whole week, amazing scenery and fantastic facilities. The tents are lovely with such comfy beds and lovely little extras in the tents really make it feel like your home for the week. We loved cooking pizza in the wood burning oven and toasting marshmallows on the campfire. Can't recommend this lovely site enough.

User

What a wonderful place to stay. 5 star accommodation in a 5 star setting. It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into the furnishings and the equipment. Toasty warm in the tents with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Evie, my granddaughter loved feeding the animals and has already said she wants to go again. And so nice to be able to take the dogs. A lovely Easter break and I would definitely return. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Sue & Jo xXx.

We returned yesterday from a fabulous break in "Afon" tent. We had looked at Cottages and Lodges but came accross this beautiful place and I am so glad we chose to come here over the other places we had looked at. Ellie and Dan have worked so hard to make it the fantastic place that it is. Home from home with everything you need in a simply stunning setting! Our two children aged 14 and 10 loved it too, even the no technology!!! The homemade biscuits and blackcurrent jam were super yummy too, Thank you Ellie, Dan and little Lyra and Isis From " The Jones" Family xxx

We returned home today after an Easter weekend staying in one of the amazing Safari Tents.

We were greeted on arrival by the lovely Dan and Ellie, along with their very friendly girls Lyra and Isis. It is their very inviting, warm, friendly and extremely natural hosting that made this a 5 star break. Our pre ordered food was delivered to our tent before our arrival and Ellie also, at very short notice, offered and made me a very yummy birthday cake for the following day.

Our Safari tent was so much more than we expected - definately camping in style with everything you could possibly need. The wood burner was a great source of heat but also perfect for cooking bacon and pizzas and the camp fire facilities outside the tent were perfect for cooking sausages and toasting marshmellows.

But my review wouldn't be complete without making a further special mention to Lyra and Isis. The girls really made the break special for our children coming to collect them to share in the experiences of feeding the pigs, sheep and super cute lambs along with collecting the eggs from the resident chickens. They had such a fabulous time "running wild" around the farm making some great memories.

We will definately be looking to return.

We have just spent the most amazing four nights at Canvas and Campfires. I'd seen photos on the website but I honestly didn't know what to expect; I certainly didn't expect my city born and bred kids to try attempt to refuse to leave a place with no electricity, declaring they wanted to 'live here forever'! When we arrived we were greeted by Ellie, Lyra and Isis who welcomed us with a batch of homemade (dairy- free) biscuits. That little touch, knowing I was lactose intolerant, was just the tip of the iceberg in terms of consideration and thought that has gone into making the glamping experience so amazing. The whole family were fantastic from the start, nothing was too little or too big to ask, from safety using the wood burner to all the key information you might need about local restaurants or places to go, they were there with answers and a smile. The tents themselves are fantastic; yes, there is no electricity but we really didn't miss it. From the tap-light in the loo, to the 'gravity light' in the lounge/ dining area, to the solar lights and phone charger and the roaring wood burner, you really are 'all set' no matter what the weather. There is an outside fire pit for cooking (or important marshmallow toasting) and you can also BBQ. The kitchen is stacked with equipment from a brilliant set of knives, to huge cooking pots and a tea strainer, Ellie and Dan have thought of everything in order to make your stay comfortable. It is so peaceful, so relaxing and the family welcome everyone to get involved feeding the animals in the morning, which we all loved. You have to walk across the field for the showers but it's not a very big field, so you are there within a minute and they are also 'good' showers. Anyone who knows us knows how badly my children sleep and the fact they get up between 5-5.30am every day. The first day we arrived Dan promised us that within a couple of days our kids would be sleeping in, we were pretty confident he would be wrong- it would take a miracle to change a habit of 7 years... but no, Canvas and Campfires had worked its magic again, both kids sleeping through the nights, in their own beds and a good couple of hours more than usual! (By this point, husband and I both were considering the kids' idea to 'live here forever'!) When I say there isn't a fault to be found, I am being honest, there really isn't. We all loved it so much that we booked again for next year before we even left. We knew we wanted to give the place rave reviews but we're equally worried about how quickly it will book up when everyone realises how fantastic it is! We can't recommend Canvas and Campfires enough, if you are thinking about it- book it, you won't regret it (unless you book it up and stop us from going back... then you WILL regret it!)

Ellie, Dan, Lyra and Isis- thank you for the most fantastic holiday. We are already looking forward to coming back next year. XxxX

We had an amazing time staying at Dan and Ellie’s beautiful cottage. We enjoyed exploring the grounds, seeing the animals especially the friendly pigs who loved a rub on the belly. It was the perfect place to propose. Dan and Ellie catered to our every need, including help with the hot tub, which was relaxing after a day exploring the scenic area! We will definitely return as it is the perfect opportunity to relax and to explore the vast area that the farm offers. Thanks for everything especially the champagne!

Thanks to Dan, Ellie and the girls for a fabulous relaxing weekend staying in their gorgeous holiday cottage, jumping into the hot tub on an evening to look at the stars. The views are stunning, we enjoyed exploring the coast between Aberystwyth and St David’s and did a fantastic mountain bike ride at Bwich Nant yr Arian.

Once you count 14 telegraph poles, turn a swift left into a campsite of your dreams. You will be met by the warmth of a family, clucking hens, and the most luxurious tents on top of a valley with log stoves, flushing toilets and piping hot showers. Take your pick: watch a canopy of stars appear from on your porch, cook a BBQ, walk into the woods, feed the animals, or drive into nearby mountains and the sea. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Thank you for creating this little haven. We will be back

User

On our way back from a fantastic long weekend staying in one of Dan & Ellie's amazing safari tents. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend - it went way beyond all of our expectations. The kids are already asking when we can go back - not only to stay on the farm, feed the animals, play in the swamps, sleep in the cabin bed, create pretend shops and industries on the farm, make pizza's in the wood burning stove, toast marshmallows under the stars, but to also play with Dan and Ellie's gorgeous girls, Lyra and Isis, who couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.

The Safari tents are beautiful and luxurious - so much attention to deal in everything they have created. This is glamping at its finest and we loved it!

Dan and Ellie you were the perfect hosts - thank you so much and we hope to see you again in the summer.

Best wishes for the coming months..

Absolutely loved seeing the various animals and wildlife each day - sitting by the open fire at nighttime. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect week. Xx

Looked for a much needed break from screens and the craziness of work and happened to find canvas and camping. What an absolutely amazing place to just chill out and get away from it all. The tent was beautiful, we stayed in Seren so had the added bonus of the hot tub Ellie and Dan were so accommodating and welcoming the homemade chocolate biscuits were eaten within 5 minutes of arriving.

Our 2 year old had a great time (even if he was full of cold) and has told everyone about his adventures and about feeding the piggies.

She is already making plans for us to return in the summer so she can play with the lovely little girls as she calls them. Very dog friendly and our dog snoop enjoyed making friends with everyone he came across! Can’t wait to return.

Wow.

Now traveling home after the most amazing week - peaceful, comfortable, amazing views - Ellie and Dan on hand for anything but not intrusive at all.

We will definitely be returning when we become a family of 4

Just home after a lovely weekend in one of Dan and Ellie's wonderful safari tents, stunning scenery, lovely lovely people and the tent was gorgeous, everything you could need, warm comfortable and luxurious. Ellie and Dan are great hosts, nothing is to much trouble, just right without being at all intrusive. I would love to come back maybe next year and bring more of the family. Being 'off grid' was very relaxing for a couple of days.
