“Following an extensive review of the Charity’s affairs, the Interim Manager recommended the cessation of the Charity’s operations due to significant concerns over the financial position, the governance structure and its long term efficacy. These findings were accepted by the Charity Commission. Working closely with the RSPCA throughout the duration of his appointment and having concluded that the Charity is no longer viable, resulted in a need to rehome the animals at the S...anctuary, with the assistance of the RSPCA. On 27 November 2018, the RSPCA moved 137 animals being cared for at the Sanctuary to boarding and specialised establishments for further care. There remain a small number of animals that the RSPCA were not able to remove and the Interim Manager is considering options, if possible, to rehome these animals. Regrettably, the Sanctuary is closed and the Charity is no longer able to provide a home to animals in need of care.”

Eric and Ernie, the two little ginger and white kittens have both been adopted, they have been collected by their new owners and should soon be settling into their new forever family homes.

Tinkerbelle and Heidi have now been adopted. They have been homed together which is really good as they were very friendly and used to curl up together and wash each other, even though they were not litter sisters. Both of these girls were the last of their litters, the left overs so to speak, so it is fantastic that they have been adopted together.

Eight white fancy doves have been adopted. A family came along to adopt a rabbit, they, or rather their rabbit, chose Harry, and whilst they were here they had a tour of the Sanctuary and they mentioned that they have had an empty dove cote for over a year and would love some white doves. Problem solved !

I would like to thank all of the volunteers and members who have been coming along to the Sanctuary to help out with caring for the animals. I really appreciate your help. Three weeks ago, I tore the tendons in my right knee, so I could only do the work slowly and with frequent rests, then I had a severe reaction to the painkillers, which then meant that I could do very little. I am supposed to rest and my injured leg elevated, which means that I cannot spend much time at the computer either. I am still working with the animals, still slowly and with frequent rests, so I wish to thank everyone who has rallied round to help us.

Nora and her new born kittens, now settled in, clean and warm and well fed. Nora has four little ones, one ginger, one tabby and two tortoiseshell. She is a wonderful mother, and now that the kittens are a few days old, she likes to have a bit of a break from them, sitting on the hearth, in front of the fire. She is a very loving cat, likes to be stroked, especially round her ears and under her chin, she quickly starts purring when she is stroked.

Last big job of the afternoon, cleaning out the loose box. Misty is now back in her box, plenty of hay and pony nuts and a full tub of water. I gave her a good brushing out as well, but as soon as I had her looking clean and tidy, she rolled in the straw and came up looking more like a scarecrow than a pony.
