I’m an accredited angling guide, holding a Level 2 Certificate in Skills and Knowledge of Angling Guiding on behalf of Wild Fishing Wales (WFW).

I’m first aid trained and hold a current DBS certificate (previously CRB). Building upon my skills, I’m currently pursuing the Game Angling Instructors Certificate Award (GAIC), specialising in the single-handed rod fly-casting and fly-dressing disciplines. I’m also proud to be General Secretary of Pontarddulais Angling Association, managing the official website and keeping members up-to-date via a monthly e-newsletter.

My angling career began at the tender age of five, lobbing a running worm into a small stream at the bottom of my parent’s garden. At eleven, I progressed to fly-fishing and began tying my own flies throughout my teenage years. Ever since, I’ve continued to cast a fly to a wide array of species from bank, boat, float-tube and kayak.

Born and bred in South Wales, I was introduced to night fly-fishing for sea trout (or ‘sewin’ as they are known locally) at an early age. I now specialise in this unique angling discipline and often share my knowledge to visiting anglers. I’ve also been a member of Llandeilo Angling Association for over twenty-five years, night fly-fishing for sea trout on the River Towy.

My other passion are wild brown trout, and I’ve an extensive knowledge of fishing rivers and upland lakes throughout Wales. I also have experience ‘lough style’ fishing on many of the famous Irish limestone loughs, along with traditional wet-fly fishing throughout Scotland, particularly the Islay and Lewis islands.

Working as a photographer for the angling press, I’ve also been fortunate to fish a number of more exotic locations, where I’ve chased hard fighting bonefish across the flats of the Bahamas, stalked arctic char and wild brown trout from crystal clear pools in Iceland and casted my way along the beautiful Spanish mountain streams for wild brown trout.
