Carden Arms Description

A very warm welcome to the Carden Arms.

A traditional, independent 18th Century Coaching inn, set amongst a cobbled forecourt in the centre of the picturesque village of Tilston, in the glorious South Cheshire Countryside.

We are sure that with our interesting, eclectic and welcoming bar and dining rooms you will find the perfect spot to enjoy a beer with friends or tuck into our traditional, home-made quality food. On fine days, we have a sun-filled terrace where we often cook and eat outdoors, returning to the open fires to warm by the bar when the evening closes in.

We cut no corners in finding and cooking the freshest local produce, alongside mouthwatering meat from our very own herd of traditional pedigree Hereford cows.

Food is served during the following times:
Sunday - 12. 00 to 20. 00
Monday - the kitchen is closed
Tuesday to Saturday - 12. 00 to 14. 30 and 17. 30 to 21. 30

We hope to see you very soon.

We've been to this lovely county pub today for Sunday lunch it really is a Hidden gem . Food was gorgeous good beers on draft and great draft ciders . The staff were lovely couldn't do enough for you well definitely will be going back there very soon .

User

We enjoyed a delicious lunch here today. I had ham and cheese croquettes with a chipotle sauce for starters followed by a goats cheese and roast veggie open sandwich. The carrot and ginger soup and the huge fish fillet sandwich looked amazing!

A very friendly and relaxed atmosphere and we look forward to our next visit

User

I had the warm winter salad with honey garlic chicken this afternoon, it was absolutely stunning on the plate and an absolute pleasure to eat !!! Just a superb standard of flavour , ingredients and attention to detail ! The chef here obviously cares about his food.

User

Had my birthday lunch here today , with my husband . First of all , what welcoming staff when we arrived . Everyone was welcoming and cheerful. The food was fantastic . I had the pan fried chicken with ceaser salad and poached egg - this was so delicious and the most perfectly poached egg l have ever eaten . My husband had the rump steak with blue cheese salad - again delicious . This will definitely be the first of many visits . A huge thank you to everyone .

User

Had a lovely evening last night. Yummy food, very friendly staff. What's not to like! I shall definitely be back. Often!

User

Had a lovely evening at the Carden Arms last night. Friendly and helpful service. Immaculate and attention to detail on a different scale. Had the croquets for starter which where perfection followed by the local Rump Steak salad and a cheeky wee taste of the Lamb Kofta which was on the specials board. The quality of the produce is amazing and cooked exquisitely. Had to try the local ice cream which was a delight served with the most devine caramel sauce and home made short bread. My daughter had the Gammon for main course with the most perfectly served egg. We both could not recommend more, well worth the journey from Aberdeenshire. Thank you to all at the Carden Arms a wee hidden gem xx

User

Great place, lovely country atmosphere, very friendly staff. Food was amazing in particular the chocolate brownie. Well worth a visit. Loved the fact the chef took the time to come out of the kitchen and say hello. Just think that's a really nice touch.

User

Good pub, quality food and really good service, staff have always got a warm welcome to them an the delight is watching the head chef Jonathan mount through the little window so u can see into the kitchen and watch your food be prepared an cooked before serving #topfood#toppub!!!

User

Generous portions, delicious food, wonderful ambiance! Our whole family enjoyed the meal and hope to come back again some day.

User

First time we have visited the Carden Arms and with our friends staying at the Carden Park hotel it was a perfect place to meet. We arrived around 3.30pm yesterday (11.02.18) with 4 adults and 2 children. What can I say.....fabulous food and friendly staff in a lovely location.10 out of 10 we will be back.

User

First time visit since it reopened and SOOOO IMPRESSED!!! The outside seating area where we had Sunday lunch was great with plenty of shade under huge parasols. Our food was heavenly .. the roast beef divine (from their own Hereford beef herd locally) ... gravy to die for... It was busy but we were not kept waiting for too long and the girls waiting on were so pleasant and helpful. nothing was too much trouble! Great Menu with enough choice to suit everyone. Children and aninals welcome.... what more could anyone want. lovely to find this little gem in the Cheshire countryside. You must go and experience it for yourself. Enjoy!!

User

Excellent food served by friendly efficient staff. Joanna was exceptional and gave us a tour of the restaurant/stable block and newly furnished rooms. Beautiful decor.

Loved the homemade white chocolate and raspberry fudge. Certainly be back for a Sunday lunch in the near future. Highly recommend this place .

User

Enjoyed a superb lunch today with family. The choice was varied and interesting on the main menu and the gluten free menu a dream. My excitement to have my first gluten free fish and chips since having wheat issues was clear to see by my empty plate and smile. Thanks to all the staff . Great restaurant, highly recommended !

Change can be a bit daunting and when its your favourite 'local' that's being turned upside down it was bound to be a bit of a worry. But, now the doors have opened and we've had our first meal we've got nothing but praise for what has been done to the Carden Arms! The pub always had a great atmosphere, but now its enhanced by really cosy, tastefully decorated surroundings, lovely antiques and lots of little extras like the vintage skittles and a games area. The layout has been reorganised and it 'flows' much better than before. The main restaurant is stunning and the food is locally sourced and fabulously cooked! The staff are really friendly and the drinks and food great vfm. Looking forward to our next visit!

User

2nd time we’ve eaten here & we were just as impressed as we were 1st time around. Staff really friendly & helpful . Good variety of dishes on the menu & food was freshly cooked to order .We really enjoyed ourselves & will be returning soon !

User

Excellent atmosphere with an ambiance of it its own, just a bit different form other hostelries in the area to make it worth the visit. Sunday lunch was fine but there are better in the area. Ales are good and the staff friendly.

We will be making a return visit to try the evening menu.

User

Enjoyed dinner last week. What food we chose was lovely and staff welcoming & interior lovely. Loved being able to see the working kitchen too. However was a bit disappointed no steak or chicken on the menu that evening. Would hope to see Fever Tree tonic water behind the bar - it transforms a gin!
