Cardiff Bay Wakeboarding - we aim to develop a Cable Wakeboarding Park at Bute East Dock in Cardiff Bay.
Cardiff Bay Wakeboarding Description
The Cable Ski Park will allow participants to enjoy wakeboarding and waterskiing without the use of a boat. The system operates using an elevated cable that travels out and back on a ‘course’, held into place by 2 pylons. The rider holds onto a tow handle attached to the cable and is then pulled around the course.
We aim to have the Cable Ski Park ready to open for the beginning of July 2014.
The Cable Ski Park will be situated in Cardiff’s Bute East Dock. We aim to make full use of the local amenities to create a sporting venue that will attract a wide range of participants of all ages, from newcomers to enthusiasts. The course itself will run for 160 metres in length, and will include park features for the more advanced riders.

Unfortunately we have disappointing news regarding the proposed cable park - the area we were hoping to use for our land base - reception, changing rooms and storage - has been sold by S A Brain Brewery to a local property developer.
The closure of the pub was announced in press articles on 11th March 2016 due to the lack of long term viability. We don’t agree with this and have worked continuously over the past 4 years to try and secure a lease on the land believing that a ...successful sporting facility in the form of a cable park would have transformed the area and the custom at the pub.
Plans have been submitted to Cardiff Council for demolition of the site and a large development is proposed for the site that includes 185 residential units, a coffee shop and a local retail store. There currently will not be any space on the site for us to host the land side facilities we need.

Big thanks to Keep Wales Tidy, The Wharf Angling Club, Atlantic Wharf Residents Associations and The Holiday Inn Express for the litter pic this morning at East Bute Dock, Cardiff - we collected 22 bags - over a ton of litter from the Dock and the surrounding area

Hi all - We're still stuck waiting for the land owners to complete the sale of the site at the wakepark - so we can get in there - it's all taking a lot longer than we'd expected and is eating into our summer of wakeboarding fun! Anybody living locally - these guys look after the welfare of the area covering everything from litter collection to planning to parking issues, liaising with local police and council officials
Awesome afternoon working with members of the Wharf Angling Club to clean up the litter from East Bute Dock and the surrounding pathways. Atlantic Wharf Residents' Association also had a litter pick session this morning - the area is looking much better :)
Hi all, We found out recently that the land owner where we propose having our reception / changing areas, has put the land site up for sale! We're hoping that a sale will go through quickly and we can get the park up and running asap. We are planning for a May build and opening. We'll keep you posted as soon as we have any news.
