The castle is full of exhibits that are both interesting and informative. Additionally, the castle is located close to a massive shopping center, the train station, and a number of really great restaurants. The castle is quite large though, so be prepared to spend the better part of a day seeing all it has to offer.

Excellent self-guided tour with headsets, but feel free to ask the guides in some of the rooms of the main house for additional information. They were all more than willing to provide that little bit extra that changes a good tour into a great one.
Magnificent views from the top of the tower too so it is worth the effort to climb up.
The air raid shelters in the tunnels has the potential to be expanded a bit with additional information (but then we'd probably have stayed to read that too and would have definitely been locked in for the night!).

The cheap guided tour is definitely worth it. Very knowledgeable guide took us round and we got our money's worth. Just take a coat/umbrella!

The castle is definitely worth a visit when in Cardiff! The house is beautifully decorated and has information available in a wide variety of languages. The keep has some steep stairs but the views are pretty from the top. Visit when the weather is good if possible ☺

Great attraction featuring a castle (motte and bailey) and an historic house. The guided tour round the house is recommended to see rooms the general public don't get to see -fantastic decoration inside.
Castle walls also feature an air-raid shelter attraction, but that wasn't much really.
A shop and restaurant complete the offering making for a great day.

The castle in itself is not that impressive, the outer wall is nice to walk through as it gives you an idea of how hit Cardiff was during WWII. The main tower is in ruin but still worth visiting. What I liked the most was the manor you can wander in. We only paid for the normal ticket thinking that the rooms would not be worth paying for but I regret my choice. The rooms included in the normal entrance ticket are mesmerizing and we spent a good hour looking at the detailed painted ceilings and tapestries, I can only imagine how beautiful the "secret" rooms must be. Consider buying the more expensive ticket if your interested in interior design!

Been visiting Cardiff my whole life, and we'd always visit Cardiff Castle. Beautiful site, great history. Quite a lot to explore, found the bunkers my last visit that I had no idea existed previously. The house tour is worth the extra £3, and they've got student discounts. Maybe even senior discounts. Definitely a must for anyone visiting Cardiff. Family friendly too.

We love the events here in the holidays like knight school or the joust. As a local resident we may have become complacent to the beauty of the castle but it is spectacular and well maintained.

There are tours and lots of staff on hand, a lovely cafe with outdoor seating in the grounds, discounts and concessions plus an aviary with owls and hawks.

Fantastic day for young and old alike.

We stopped here as part of a tour. While most of our group walked down the street to shop in Cardiff, we decided to come into the castle grounds. It was well worth the stop! The ruins of the keep were amazing. The walls are so thick! The main manor house was absolutely gorgeous with some stunning rooms. Really enjoyed spending time here.
